As the Newman Road site is progressing well . I have been updated by the Locally Housing Department .With just a couple of exceptions ,where a couple of sitting tenants have showed a desire to return to their former homes . Rebuild properties will be advertised through Devon Home Choice to be allocated in line with their policy , to people on the waiting list . Either as a first home with ECC or as a transferee from existing social housing .

Whether it’s because of the party I represent or because I am a Devon County Councillor, I find trying to work with our local councillors for the good of the residents in this area really hard.

Most don’t respond to messages that have been sent. Others just want to criticise and say not to get involved with local issues and to just stick to County matters.

My answer is simple: do what you were elected to do and work with me for the good of the community.

I have passed on various concerns that people have approached me with to different local councillors in the two wards I represent. If I am lucky, I do get a response.

There are certain subjects I have not commented on, as I was told I could be breaking the Nolan principles. Look it up.

So here’s a message to the six local councillors in this area: I am not going away. If people write to me and say they are being ignored, then I will see if I can help.

Maybe I should just update you on Devon issues that I am involved in, but that won’t help the west side of the city.

It may sound like not a big issue . I noticed that some form of w**dkiller has been used in St Thomas Park and an employee was seen with a bottle on his back spraying . I have written to the Council to see if their policy has changed . If it has I will be writing to Highways to see what funding is available to give to Exeter City so the w**ds on are pavements can be treated . At present we have been using the fantastic Community Payback team , but as fast as they clear the w**ds , unless treated .They will just go back . Hopefully ,if they have changed their policy then we can finally take action and make our streets w**d free.

Two very interesting visits today One was Exeter CAB . They offer a much needed service to the citizens of this City and surrounding areas . I did not realise they are a charity and rely in part on donations from the general public . Secondly I went to the St Thomas stakeholders forum to listen to all the wonderful things local groups and Exeter City funded organisations are doing on the West Side of the city . One of which is the St Thomas Summer Fete , as well as activities being held in and around the area . I am confident you will all show your support an attend some of the many activities on offer .

As requested by a resident in Exwick . Last week I reported to Highways about the condition of the road surface on the Kinnerton Road . Moorland Way roundabout . With any luck this should be dealt with in the near future .

A couple of people have asked me to look into the possibility of Dustbin lorries coming out to set locations in Exwick and St Thomas and parking up .This would allow residents to bring their items to dispose of and hopefully cut down on flytipping . This used to happen years ago on a saturday. I have written to the relivent department with their suggestion and see where it goes from there .

I thought by holding my hands up and not editing the post about St Wilfred’s School I was doing the right thing . I have now corrected it and am man enough to admit I made a mistake . Thank you for all who corrected me and even the ones who criticised me . Nobody’s perfect .
