Exmouth Town Council is inviting expressions of interest for a fixed-term Summer Beach Wheelchair Service Support Assistant position.

This opportunity has been made possible thanks to Exmouth Town Council successfully securing grant funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

This varied role is expected to include:
β™Ώ Supporting the day-to-day operation of the Beach Wheelchair Unit
🀝 Assisting and coordinating our volunteer team
πŸ“‹ Providing administrative support and managing bookings
πŸ“± Promoting the service through social media and community engagement
🌞 Providing operational cover during busy periods, including some weekends

The anticipated role will offer:
β€’ Fixed-term contract for 10 weeks
β€’ Up to 16 hours per week

This fixed-term opportunity is offered at the National Living Wage.

If you would like to receive the Job Information Pack and application details once they become available, please register your interest by emailing [email protected].

Please feel free to share this post with anyone who may be interested in this opportunity.

πŸ’™ A huge thank you to everyone at Roselodge Care Home! πŸ’™

Today we had the pleasure of attending their Summer Garden Party 🀠🌻 to meet the wonderful managers, incredible staff, smiley residents and families, where we receive a generous donation in support of the Exmouth Beach Wheelchair Service. β™ΏπŸŒŠ

Roselodge has been using our Beach Wheelchair Service since we first opened, and it is always a pleasure to welcome residents back. 😊 We love seeing the amazing days out and activities they organise, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful beach, breathe in the fresh sea air and create lasting memories together. πŸ–οΈβ˜€οΈπŸ’™

This generous donation will help us continue providing free access to the beach for people with limited mobility, ensuring even more people can experience everything Exmouth's coastline has to offer. πŸŒŠβ™ΏπŸŒž

A heartfelt thank you to the whole Roselodge family, and to everyone who supported the fundraising. πŸ’ Your kindness, generosity and continued support mean so much to us, and we can't wait to welcome you back to the beach again soon! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’™

🌊 Beach Wheelchair Story Spotlight πŸ’™

There's nothing quite like seeing the joy that our Beach Wheelchair Service can bring.

Recently, 10-year-old Amelia-Rose visited the beach using one of our beach wheelchairs, and she kindly shared her experience with us.

πŸ’¬ A quick Q&A with Amelia-Rose...

🐚 What do you love doing at the beach?
"Looking for shells, going in the water in the wheelchair and building sandcastles."

πŸ’™ Why did you want to use a beach wheelchair?
"To join my class friends on the beach."

😊 How did it make you feel?
"Very happy to be able to get onto the beach using the Batman chair."

⭐ What was your favourite part of the day?
"Accessing the beach, using the Batman chair and looking for shells with my class friends."

🌊 Was there anything you were able to do that you couldn't do before?
"Go onto the sand and down to the sea."

❀️ What would you say to another child thinking about using one of our beach wheelchairs?
"I would say to them that I find it really fun and it makes me happy that I can use it on the beach."

Stories like Amelia-Rose's remind us exactly why this service is so important. Everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy the beach, make memories with friends and experience the sea without barriers.

A huge thank you to Amelia-Rose and her family for allowing us to share their story and photograph. We hope it encourages other families to discover what's possible. πŸŒŠπŸ’™

Heading to the beach this weekend?

With a heat health alert issued by the UK Health Security Agency for parts of England, and sunny weather and temperatures around 30Β°C are expected into next week, take note of this advice.

Follow these tips to stay safe and enjoy your time by the sea:

1. Know your flags and signs – these are placed to inform you of any potential hazards, wind conditions, and safe swimming zones ⚠️

2. Check in advance – choose a beach that is patrolled by lifeguards πŸ–οΈ

3. Decide on a meeting point – choose a clear and memorable meeting point with your group in case you get separated or lost πŸ“

4. Be cautious of rip currents – they can be difficult to spot and quickly pull you into deep water regardless of your swimming ability 🌊

5. Leave inflatables at home – they are at high risk of being swept away by currents or offshore winds πŸ¦„

In an emergency at the coast, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
