We are all entitled to our opinion. And even to express them (to a point). We really are. That's the great thing about living here. In a fortnight we have Exmouth Pride which will be a small parade and then a day of celebration in Manor Gardens.

Two days ago, all the banners and signs went up advertising the event and within a day, we are already rerunning the same pathetic activity we have had for the last couple of years with the banners going missing. Seriously, what is wrong with people!!?
We do not think this is tomfoolery. This is targeted protest at the Exmouth event which is really sad and I feel sorry for the person that is so narrow minded that they cant stand other peoples lifestyles which have no effect on them.

Exmouth Neighbourhood Policing Team will have a trade stand at Exmouth Pride and whilst we are impartial to beliefs, we do support the event. We would appeal for any information in relation to persons conducting hate activity.

!! As last year, this is an official police FB page and it saddens me to have to remind folks that it is not a place that is suitable for you to air your views one way or the other. Peace out.

Even though the weather has tanked completely, its still been hot and steamy in the world of Exmouth and Ottery policing.

We have had the Darts Farm sauna saga and are happy that that is now returned after some crafty work by the Exmouth Crime Management Team, Exmouth Intelligence Team, the Exmouth & Ottery Neighbourhood Policing Team and our colleagues in Wiltshire Police. It seems like half the world were aware that that had been stolen. I would refer you to Darts Farm's socials for those updates as their idea of social media is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than mine, but in the words of their fun little song "Its back" 🤣 .
The van has been seized also but just as a side note, it was on cloned plates. The real van belongs to a local Exmouth family builder so please don't worry if you see it about. Other enqs ongoing. For clarity, this was not all we did this week. Other things happened as well!

It was also great to have the Mayor of Exmouth, Councillor Graham Deasy, out with us yesterday. He spent time with various departments within the station (and yes, officers do work from the police station still!) and came out and met some business owners.

In an early heads up, we have two new PCSOs starting with us soon. One in Exmouth and one in Ottery!!!!!!! Yes Ottery. I banged the drum loud enough and long enough and finally got my way😜

Did you really need your hedge cutting, your gutter cleaning or your drive resurfacing?
Or did you just have it done because a chap turned up at the door and offered to do it for cash? - a task otherwise not even on the to-do list on the fridge door!

I am sure that there are many many genuine local businesses across our corner of Devon, that specialise in garden and building maintenance, that would love your business as and when you plan to cut that large hedge you own.

Please do not be pressured into having work done by someone at your door "who just happens to be in the area doing work at a neighbours". Literally no genuine tradesman says that. Indeed, try getting any tradesman without weeks/month wait! Its impossible. Someone offering to work for you is like a verbal zero star rating on Trustpilot.

If someone comes to your door, have the confidence to say no and close it. The price may seem attractive but it never stays that low. Its not Scout bob-a-job week. There are no good deeds to be done here. Funnily enough, I once got asked for the £1 back after a chap thought I did a bad job of washing his car during Scout job week. Be like that man - but not as grumpy 🤣

Keep your relatives safe. Pass on the message.

bike/motorcycle thefts! - A slightly late post.

Early yesterday morning the Exmouth Patrol Team made arrest after catching some 'out of towners' responsible for thefts of motorcycles and bikes.

We know this was a hot topic. We also know that a few of you have captured them on your doorbell cams, etc.

If you have not yet reported a related incident or have footage, we would greatly appreciate it. If you could make contact via the force contact email or 101 that would be greatly appreciated. The investigating officer will then follow up with you.

iiiiiiiiits show time!!!

That time has come but once a year when you can go and buy an ice cream, a combine harvester, a hot tub, a car and a skateboard all at the same place. Yes, its the Devon County Show coming to you live from Westpoint for three days this week.

Its a bank holiday weekend and its going to be hot hot hot. Some of the Exmouth & Ottery Neighbourhood Policing Team will be there so come and have a chat to us whilst we are out and walking about, or on the police stand by the main entrance. Don't forget to ask for stickers - I have asked for more dog stickers this year as they are always most popular! We always think that the show is a great way to meet you all.

However..... equally, please be patient as the traffic will be significantly increased and you should defo expect delays. Leave extra time for any commuting.

Don't forget your suntan lotion and water!

*************** M5/Sandygate/A30 update *******************

The motorway is opening as of 30 seconds ago. It will take some time to clear through.

I would not normally expand on such matters but the Force comms team have done so on our media. This has related to a person in crisis on an overbridge.
We are grateful the incident has resolved with a positive outcome and thank you to all the specialist teams and partner agencies that have worked since the early hours to resolve the incident. We understand the disruption it has caused and equally, thank you to yourselves for your understanding. We hope the individual gets the help and support they need.
