The Harbour Master staff work in partnership with Estuary users to help ensure that everyone can enjoy the water safely. For visiting yachtsmen, sail the oldest working shipping canal in Europe, first opened to shipping in 1566 and the first canal to be built in Britain since Roman times. Enter the historic canal through Turf Lock and journey peacefully through 8 km of manmade waterway, enjoying stunning views and a variety of wildlife.
