IMPORTANT UPDATE

We’re writing to you with a long overdue update about our project you have so kindly supported in the last 12 months.

In November, after failing to raise the significant funds we needed, our request to the Peak Park for a time extension was denied. The land is now to be sold on the open market with planning permission for a caravan park. It will be sold by sealed bids to be concluded some time in May.

Obviously this is not the outcome any of us had hoped for, but the team has been meeting and working out what we can possibly do under these circumstances. Initially we had hoped we might be able to partner with other organisations to raise the capital to place our own bid, but none of these leads have panned out.

Our options are now limited but these are the discussions we have been having:

We have been made aware of a known, trusted local business who is interested in making a bid. We would hope to work with them, if successful, to realise some of our Wildwood goals of a meadow and trees.
We are also in talks with PDNP as to assurances re the sale - eg, no immediate resale, no changes in planning permission, first refusal on resale etc. These conversations are ongoing.

We’re really grateful for all your donations and support, and as we are not able to achieve the aims under which you gave us money, there are some options you need to consider and let us know what you would like to do:

If you donated money and would like it back, please email us on [email protected] with the email address you paid with via PayPal. We will be able to allocate your donation with your email address and pay you back in full by the end of May.
If you would like to keep your donation in place whilst we make new plans and await our next move then you do not need to do anything. If we are able to have some part of the land we hope to honour the tree dedications.
If you would like your donation amount to be made to the Woodland Trust now then please email us on [email protected] with the email address you paid with on PayPal. We will make a lump sum donation including your name and send you confirmation of this.
The administration required to complete multiple refunds is vast and we work on a voluntary basis so please be patient when awaiting a reply. We have given ourselves a deadline for the end of May to make all requested refunds.

Thank you again for all your support and we are truly sorry this is not the outcome we had hoped for.

Best wishes,

The Foolow Wildwood Team

Are you looking for ideas on how to take action on the climate crisis?
We are all aware of which is taking place at the moment in Glasgow and the need to reduce carbon emissions. A lot of companies are looking to plant more trees as part of their pledge to help the environment and reduce their carbon footprint. What are you doing? Perhaps you may like to support our Wild Wood Project by purchasing a tree or making a donation to help raise the much-needed funds to buy back a portion of land in our village. Here's how you can pledge -

Morning everyone -this is my favourite time of the year how fabulous do the trees look in all their Autumn Glory the warm orange and brown tones just make you want to reach for that favourite sweater and bobble hat and go on a long walk.

We are still continuing with our quest to raise funds so here's a gentle reminder of how you can help.

I thought I'd share this interesting blog found on The Woodland Trust website. What happens in Autumn?

According to the meteorological calendar autumn began on 1 September, although 23 September heralds the beginning of autumn according to the astronomical calendar. For me, autumn is signified by nature, by dazzling sights of fruits and bright berries hanging from trees and hedgerows under a canopy o...

I just wanted to share this picture of one of the project leaders own contributions to planting and meadowland. Following the purchase of some land by their own property this is what it looks like two years on just imagine how fabulous our site could look if we were lucky enough to raise the money needed. The wildlife that now visits is quite incredible. Please if you can help by sharing our FB page with as many friends as you can we would be ever so grateful - time is running out - Thank you

The village has been a hive of activity this week getting ready for Well Dressing. Here's a picture of stage 1 , Puddling where clay is squished into the boards, a very messy job. You can catch the team of worker bees in the village hall, skillfully placing petals onto a design ready for display this coming weekend. The well will be put into place and blessed on Saturday at 11.45am and there will be a few stalls on the village green. All in the hope of raising much-needed funds for our project.
You will also be able to get refreshments and homemade cakes at the Village Hall, just look out for the bunting.

Teas are available from this coming Saturday until Friday and all proceeds go to Foolow Wild Wood - this event is organised by volunteers please show your support and come and eat cake- thank you

Did you know as well as planting trees on the site we want to ensure that all the pollinators have natural meadow to enjoy too. This is a picture my brother took if you look closely you can actually see the bees tongue and this was taken with his phone not his super duper camera - what do you think of this Villager Jim ?
