Each last Friday of the month we are running a new programme of Local Hill Walks.

Our August walk was to Ben Venue in the Trossachs, a fantastic Graham (Scottish hill between 2000 and 2500 ft) with a nice approach and some rugged moves to get to the summit.

Kim and Linda - with Craig leading - enjoyed a meander up which provided increasingly excellent views.

If hill walking is something you are interested in, or if you are getting back into doing it, or if you just fancy getting up some local hills so you can maybe see your house (as well as much of the Central Belt) - come along, it's only 20 quid for the day.

This includes transport from our Base in Skinflats as well as any equipment you might need.

Lots of breaks, relaxed pace, good craic.

Next walk is to Ben Lomond of 25th September. More info here:

Yesterday we restarted our adult community courses after a pause to run the kids holiday programme with a High Tops bike and hike to Beinn Bhrotain & Monadh Mor in the Cairngorms.

Alan, Archie, Len, Martyn, Natalie & Nicky - with Craig leading - cycled in from Linn of Dee near Braemar and followed the Dee up to just past the Allt Larnaidh where we continued on foot over to the Allt Garbh then on to Beinn Bhrotain.

We then continued over the boulders and on to Monadh Mor where we got views, then dropping steeply down Coire Cath nam Fionn to eventually join the path out of Glen Geusachan and back down Glen Dee to the bikes and an eventful ride back out.

A long and fairly strenuous outing but with ever-hungry midge bombings to keep us moving. Well done to the team.

Lots more walks, climbing, scrambling, navigation and even coasteering coming up if you fancy a wee adventure:

Staff training in August means it's time for rock climbing.

We visited Creag na h-Eighe near Dunkeld. This worked well for a bit of trad leading followed by setting up top ropes to look at how we would use it with groups.

Today marked the final session of our Summer Youth Adventure Programme 2026, with one last adventure to Elie, Fife for an exciting coasteering session.

It’s been an incredibly busy and rewarding summer, with the vast majority of our sessions fully booked with 12 young participants each session. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this another fantastic year.

There’s not much time to rest, as the new academic year begins next week! Over on our Falkirk Outdoors Education page, you can follow the team as we return to delivering outdoor learning experiences to both our primary and secondary schools. Here on this page, our adult programme will also continue throughout the year.

If your children have enjoyed their adventures with us over the past six weeks, we’d be delighted to welcome them back for our 2027 Easter Programme.

Until then, thank you for your support, have a wonderful rest of the summer, and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2027 for more adventures!

Today we headed back to Loch Ard, near Aberfoyle, for a day of paddlesports, with everyone getting the chance to try a mixture of canoes, sit-on-top kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.

We had 11 enthusiastic participants, all aged 11+ who were eager for a day both in and on the water. Thankfully, today we had good weather although a bit breezy at times however m, we managed to get from little Loch Ard up through the narrows and into the next lagoon.

It was great to see everyone challenging themselves, building confidence, learning new skills and, most importantly, having lots of fun, great effort today.

Today we headed out with the 9+ group from the SYA programme for an adventure at Balquhidder and Kirkton Gorge.

We entered the gorge from the bottom, where it’s more of a stream, but as we made our way upstream it became much more hands-on, with plenty of rocks to scramble over. After a few twists and turns, and ducking under a couple of bridges, we reached the waterfall.

Today it certainly didn’t disappoint—it was in full flow and looked absolutely spectacular!

We were incredibly impressed with the group’s ability to get there, and even more so that the majority of them, with a little support from us, successfully made it to the top. Considering that most of the group were only 9 years old, their determination, resilience and teamwork were outstanding.

A fantastic effort from everyone today—we’re so proud of you all! 👏🌊💪.
