Forth Valley First Responders

Forth Valley First Responders Forth Valley First Responders are volunteers trained by The Scottish Ambulance Service to attend 999 emergencies before the arrival of an Ambulance.

The Resuscitation Council (UK) states that a First Responder is “a person, trained as a minimum in basic life support and the use of a defibrillator, who attends a potentially life-threatening emergency.”

A Community First Responder is a local volunteer who agrees to undertake training in Basic Life Support, This then enables them to provide life saving treatment to those people within the community who are critically ill, in the first few minutes prior to the arrival of an ambulance.

Around this time last year a number of our team began responding to the most serious of emergencies dealt with by The Scottish Ambulance Service, commonly known as 'Purple Calls' whilst off duty, so not on a First Responder shift 🚑

At the end of last week one of our responders hit their 100th response, all in his own time ⛑️

An unbelievable level of commitment ❤️

Our responders choosing to respond like this off duty has enabled resilience to be enhanced significantly across our communities 🏡

Around this time last year a number of our team began responding to the most serious of emergencies dealt with by The Scottish Ambulance Service, commonly known as ‘Purple Calls’ whilst off duty, so not on a First Responder shift.

At the end of last week one of our responders hit their 100th response, all in his own time. An unbelievable level of commitment.

Averaged across the year that’s around 8 per month!
