🍰 Home baking - making a difference! 💜

Young people from Care Visions’ North cluster came together to create some fantastic home baking for the Craigtoun Food Festival and their hard work raised an amazing £88.50! 🎉

The funds have now been donated to the Craigtoun Country Park Cafe and Kitchen, a project that our young people have benefited from and continue to enjoy through valuable hospitality, life and employability experiences.

The donation will help towards new equipment for the café and kitchen, supporting the latest group of hospitality students.

It was fantastic to see some of the young people and the team hand over the funds to Michael, Café Training Manager, and to celebrate what they had achieved together.

☀️ Big Day Out Dumfries August 2026

Thank You Everyone - What a brilliant day! 💜

On Sunday, we had the pleasure to bring children, young people, families, staff and the wider community together for a Big Day Out at Loreburn Hall in Dumfries.

There were games, circus skills, model making and animation, crafts, activities, music, plenty of fun and lots of opportunities to meet new people, catch up with familiar faces and find out more about what's happening across our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day a success, most especially all the children and young people. Special mention also to our staff & carers, Loreburn Hall, Think Circus, Dj Raymond Byrne, Police Scotland Dumfries & Galloway, Laura Moodie MSP and all the local families who came along, got involved and supported the event.

During the event you also helped raise a fantastic amount for Dumfries and Galloway Sands, supporting local families affected from baby loss.

Most of all, it was wonderful to see so many people coming together, having fun and being part of the day. 💜

We’re looking forward to sharing more from our August community events with you soon! 📸

In this clip from Care Visions Talks - Professional Talk, Danny Henderson, Head of Development at Care Visions, reflects on where we go from here, both in the UK and the US.

Responding to a question from Humphrey Hawksley and Kevin Campbell’s insights, Danny considers the wider “ecology” around care and protection, and why supporting children and young people cannot simply sit solely within policy or individual services.

Danny shares what happens within care and protection systems is connected to what happens across wider society, meaning we all have a role to play in creating better environments and outcomes for children and young people.

There’s no one route into residential childcare. 💙

The people who choose to work with young people at Care Visions come from all kinds of backgrounds and bring a wealth of different experiences with them.

Teachers, nurses, nursery workers, retail managers and even a former prison officer have all found their way into residential childcare. 👩‍🏫👩‍⚕️🧑‍💼

As Graham, Rachel and Blair explain, you don’t necessarily need a background in childcare to start your journey. With the right support, training and opportunities to develop, your previous experience can become a valuable part of how you support young people. 🌱

What matters? As shared in the video - patience, empathy, a sense of humour and a genuine commitment to making a difference. ❤️

Care Visions - BIG DAY OUT - Dumfries 🎉

Looking for something fun to do with the kids? 👀

Everyone is welcome to come along to the Care Visions Big Day Out at Loreburn Hall, Dumfries, on Sunday 23 August, 11am–2pm!

There’ll be something for everyone, including:

✨ Arts & crafts
🌟 Makeup activities, stop-motion animation & gaming
🎤 Karaoke & a DJ
🎈 Inflatables
⚽ Football
🎲 Lego, board games & giant Jenga
🍔 Catering

And it’s not just about having great fun! There’ll also be a tombola and voluntary donations, with all fundraising proceeds going to a local charity supporting projects and initiatives for young people aged 15–25 across the region.

💛 Donations during our recent Care Visions Fun Day in Stenhousemuir raised a fantastic £1,004.50 for Cash for Kids Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife & Falkirk. Thanks to Cash for Kids for their support and all the amazing work that they do in the area. A huge thanks especially to everyone who was part of the event & to the children and young people connected with us + beyond for being there and having fun!

💜 Creativity. Confidence. Connection.

Three words that can sum up Day 5 of the SPARK Project Roadshow as we wrapped up another session, this time in Fife.

In this reflection video, Lee and Geoff share some of the moments that stood out from the day. Geoff talks about leading Outrageous Ambitions, where one young person's enthusiasm for stop-motion animation really shone through as they took the activity in their own creative direction.

Meanwhile, Lee reflects on the brilliant engagement in Ready, Steady, Glow, with boys and girls alike embracing the chance to explore confidence, skincare and creativity in a supportive environment. It was also wonderful to see friendships continuing to grow, with some young people returning to another Roadshow session and strengthening the connections they've made along the way.

💛 Day three of The SPARK Project Roadshow took us to the Care Visions Fun Day in Stenhousemuir.

For Sharon and Lee, the day's biggest takeaway was all about connection.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share more about The SPARK Project with children, young people, carers and colleagues from across Care Visions, while also connecting with friends from Falkirk Council and the organisations who helped make the day a success.

One exciting highlight was welcoming a new member of our upcoming gaming sessions, who spent time meeting young people and carers ahead of the launch of this new activity 🎮

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Care Visions Fun Day and helped make it brilliant. We can't wait to share more from the event and our SPARK Project Roadshow. ⚡
