Today, HMS Collingwood hosted its annual Ceremonial Divisions. Welcoming Admiral Sir Keith Blount KCB OBE RN as Reviewing Officer and Guest of Honour for the prestigious event, which brought together the establishment’s Ship's Company, trainees, VIPs and local dignitaries.
The ceremony saw Admiral Blount take the salute from officers and ratings on parade, before conducting a formal inspection of the Guard of Honour and reviewing Royal Marine School of Music Band who provided musical accompaniment throughout.
Following the parade, guests were invited to a prize-giving ceremony at which Long Service Medals and Awards were presented by the Admiral, recognising outstanding academic achievement and exemplary service across the Ship's Company.
The Admiral said of his visit “It was a real privilege to review such an impressive parade and to meet the prize winners and their families—I leave the Royal Navy knowing that it’s future is in very capable hands.”
Captain Cromie said “Ceremonial Divisions is a highlight in HMS Collingwood’s calendar, bringing together our entire Ship’s Company and trainees to showcase the values that define the Royal Navy—discipline, teamwork, and pride in our Service. We were delighted to welcome Admiral Sir Keith Blount as our Inspecting Officer this year, and to recognise the exceptional achievements of our top-performing sailors during the prize-giving ceremony.”
Before departing, the Admiral was invited to plant a tree, commemorating his visit and marking this special occasion.
