⚠️ Heat health alert updated

A yellow heat health alert is in effect until 8pm on 30/05/2026 across the South East.

During hot weather, it's tempting to head to the water, but it can still be dangerously cold despite increased air temperatures. Cold water shock can make swimming difficult and make it harder to get out of the water. Learn about the water safety code - link in comments 👇️

☀️ Keep your home cool during hot weather
Close blinds and curtains on windows that are exposed to direct sunlight, move to the coolest part of your home and open windows (if it is safe to) when the air feels cooler outside than inside. Find more advice - link in comments 👇️

9 million v**es and pods are bought every week in the UK alone. That’s 9 million opportunities to recycle!

Since the ban in June 2025, more people than ever are using rechargeable v**es with replacement pods. But did you know that a v**e pod is an electrical item that can be recycled? And it’s easier
than you think! ♻

All shops that sell v**es and v**e pods are legally required to take back old ones for recycling, so it should be as easy to recycle them as it is to buy them.

So remember - never bin your v**es or pods! When yours has reached the end of its life ,take to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre electrical drop off point or recycle your v**e at your local retailer.

Visit to find all your local v**e and other electrical recycling points.

🌊 Respect the water this summer ☀️

As the warmer weather arrives, it’s the perfect time to enjoy beaches, lakes, and pools, but it’s essential to stay safe in and around water.

💙 Would you know what to do in an emergency?

Protect yourself and your loved ones by remembering these key safety tips:

🚩 Know your flags at the beach
🟥 Red flag = is the sign for danger and means NO SWIMMING. Never go in the water when the red flag is flying, under any circumstances. Possible reasons may be fog, large waves or pollution.
🟥🟨 Red and yellow flags will show the safe places to swim, body board and use inflatables on the beach. You will often see a lifeguard positioned between the red and yellow flags.
⬛⬜ Black and white flags are for hard surf craft including surfboards, kayaks, canoes and other craft without engines. Never swim or body board in this area.
🟧 Orange windsocks indicate offshore winds blowing out to sea or strong wind conditions – never use an inflatable when the sock is flying.

🛟 Follow the Water Safety Code
Stop and think – choose a safe place
Stay together – keep children within arm’s reach
Float to live if you get into trouble: relax, tilt your head back, and control your breathing

👀 Always listen to lifeguards – they’re there to keep you safe.
💡 In an emergency, call 999

Swimming is a life-saving skill and learning it could make all the difference. Everyone Active is the UK's leading provider of award-winning swimming lessons. For more information and to book, visit their website - link in comments 👇️
