β˜€οΈπŸ”₯ Our region remains in the VERY HIGH range on the Fire Severity Index πŸ”₯β˜€οΈ

With hot, dry conditions continuing across Oxfordshire, the risk of wildfires remains significant.

βœ… Keep BBQs away from dry grass, sheds and fences
βœ… Never leave a BBQ unattended
βœ… Keep water or sand nearby
βœ… Ensure BBQs are fully extinguished after use

🚫 Don't light fires or disposable BBQs in the countryside – pack a picnic instead
🚬 Never drop ci******es or matches
πŸ—‘οΈ Take litter home, especially glass bottles
πŸš— Avoid parking on dry grass
πŸ”₯ It only takes one spark to start a wildfire.

If you see a fire, move to safety and call 999. Use the what3words app to help emergency crews pinpoint the location quickly.

Faringdon Fire Station Open Day & Official Reopening

Faringdon Fire Station first opened its doors in 1961 under the leadership of Sub Officer Sid Taylor, serving the Berkshire & Reading Fire Brigade and the local community.

Now, 65 years later, under the leadership of Watch Manager Becky Rimmer of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, the station has undergone a major refurbishment to bring the building up to modern standards.

The improvements focus on firefighter welfare, including enhanced facilities for the safe removal of contaminants following incidents, alongside wider upgrades designed to improve efficiency, functionality, and comfort for our crews.

We are proud to invite you to the official reopening of this facility on 12 September, from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Come along and:
*Meet your local firefighters
*Take a guided tour of the newly refurbished station
*Learn about modern firefighting equipment and procedures
*Enjoy a range of activities and attractions for all the family

This is a wonderful opportunity to see how your local fire station has evolved while continuing its proud tradition of serving the community.

πŸ”₯ Enjoy the sunshine, but please take care when using BbQ’s or lighting bonfires. Dry conditions can cause fires to spread quickly and lead to major incidents.

βœ… Keep BBQs well away from buildings, fences and dry vegetation
βœ… Never leave fires unattended
βœ… Have water or a means of extinguishing the fire nearby
βœ… Ensure fires are fully out before leaving

A little extra care can help prevent a serious fire and keep everyone safe.

We are officially in drought conditions!

With the ongoing hot (and very dry) weather it was announced yesterday that our region is now in drought conditions!

The Fire Risk is still very high, we have seen multiple large fires over the past month, some were preventable.
