Farnham Castle and Castle Street at night.

It's very difficult to date this image but looking at the car on left and what I think is a bus on the right it could be 1930s.

The number of chimneys on the castle may also give a clue as I think some of those have now been removed.

Farnham Castle Trustees are now offering a free "Kids at the Castle" schools support folder to Surrey and Hampshire primary school teachers, and KS1 and KS2 pupils studying castles and local history. The folder is supported by extra downloads on the www.farnham-castle.com website. The folder contains six beautifully illustrated stories of local children from Matilda in Anglo-Saxon times to Violet who lived in Farnham during the First World War. It also contains colouring sheets, Timelines (to put Farnham's Castle into a broader historical context) and a board game for four players and word puzzle. Schools can email [email protected] to apply for a folder.

Unfortunately, the new lockdown regulation brought about by Covid-19 has meant that the Castle Keep, Palace, Visitor Centre and grounds will now no longer be open to the public. We managed to open on the last four Wednesday afternoons, but sadly that now has to end. We will keep the situation under review, but we do not expect to be able to re-open until the new year. All we can do is to wish you all a good Christmas and a far better 2021 and ask you to keep a watch on this page or the www.farnham-castle.co.uk website for updates. Farnham Castle's Trustees and all the volunteer guides look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we possibly can.
