Frensham Common covers roughly 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of attractive countryside, lying midway between Farnham and Hindhead on either side of the A287. Frensham Common is owned by the National Trust, but most of the land is managed by Waverley Borough Council. Frensham Common is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special Area of Conservation, Special Protection Area and includes a Local Nature Reserve. Toilets and a privately run cafe on site.

With the hot, dry weather increasing the risk of wildfires, we’re asking everyone to take extra care when visiting our parks and greenspaces.
🚫 BBQs and bonfires are not permitted, especially on commons and open spaces where fires can spread quickly.
✅ Please help keep everyone safe by:
Avoiding all open flames
Disposing of litter responsibly - in litter bins or taking litter home with you
Not leaving glass or anything that could start a fire
If you smoke, please make sure you extinguish any ci******es fully
If you do spot a fire, call 999

Please be aware that the Environment Agency has now confirmed blue-green algae in the water at Frensham Great Pond.
🚫 Please do not enter the water or swim – this includes keeping pets out, as blue-green algae can be harmful to both people and animals.
Your safety is our priority, and we are monitoring the situation closely.
✅ We will keep you updated and let you know as soon as the algae has cleared and the pond is safe to use again.

Representatives gathered to show their appreciation for the dedication, courage and service of the UK’s Armed Forces community.

🌡️ Red warning of extreme heat and heat-health alert issued 🌡️
The Met Office has issued a red warning of extreme heat for Surrey, in addition to a red heat-health alert issued for the south east by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). These are in place on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June, with an amber warning and alert issued for Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 June.
The Met Office says: “an exceptional spell of hot and humid weather is expected across this region, with impacts to the general population highly likely”.

🌡️ Reminder: Hot weather update – earlier bin collections 🌡️
With very high temperatures expected, our bin crews will be starting collections earlier than usual to help keep them safe in the heat.
♻️ Please make sure your bins are out the night before, as collections will take place from 5am from tomorrow until further notice.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping our crews work safely during the hot weather ☀️ We will keep you informed as to when collections revert back to the usual time.

During periods of hot weather, Frensham becomes extremely busy, and car parks fill up very quickly.
🚗 If the site is full, please consider visiting alternative locations rather than travelling to Frensham.
🚫 Please do not park illegally (including on verges, access routes or residential areas). Enforcement will be in place, and action will be taken.
‼️ As you may have seen on our channels, there is also an incident of blue-green algae in the pond, so we are advising no swimming or entering the water.
Thank you for helping us keep the area safe and accessible for everyone.

🌡️ Hot weather on the way – please take care 🌡️
Very warm temperatures are forecast over the coming days, and a heat-health alert is in place for our area.
Hot weather can be dangerous, especially for older people, young children and those with health conditions.
✅ Stay safe by:
💧 Drinking plenty of water
🧢 Keeping out of the sun between 11am–3pm
🏠 Keeping your home cool by closing curtains during the day
🚿 Cooling down with showers or cool water
🤝 Please also check in on vulnerable neighbours, friends and family – a quick check could make all the difference.
