Frensham Common covers roughly 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of attractive countryside, lying midway between Farnham and Hindhead on either side of the A287. Frensham Common is owned by the National Trust, but most of the land is managed by Waverley Borough Council. Frensham Common is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special Area of Conservation, Special Protection Area and includes a Local Nature Reserve. Toilets and a privately run cafe on site.

If you're visiting Frensham Great Pond this weekend, please keep an eye out for our new blue-green algae safety signs.⚠️

The signs provide clear information on the risks and the steps to take to protect yourself, your family and your pets.👪🐕

⚠️ Blue-green algae is still present, so please:

• Avoid contact with the water
• Keep children away from the water's edge
• Keep dogs on leads and away from the water

🚫Please stay out of the water at Frensham Great Pond🚫
The Environment Agency has carried out a further inspection and confirmed that blue-green algae is still present and at high levels.
The water remains unsafe for swimming, paddling or any activity involving contact with the water.
We do not expect this situation to change in the near future, so please continue to follow the warning signs and keep yourselves and your pets safe. Please also alert friends or family.

🚫 Please do not enter the water or swim, and keep dogs and other pets out of the water, as blue-green algae can be harmful to both people and animals.
✅ We continue to monitor the situation and will update our website and social media channels if there is any change.
ℹ️ Please note: Frensham Great Pond is managed by Waverley Borough Council. Frensham Little Pond is managed separately by the National Trust, so any enquiries about Frensham Little Pond should be directed to the National Trust.

With temperatures soaring, a little reminder to take extra care of pets and animals during hot weather.
