As we prepare for the start of the new academic year next week, we would like to remind you about the arrangements for students returning.

Monday 31st August
School is closed due to the Bank Holiday.

Tuesday 1st September
The following year groups should attend school:
Year 7
Year 12
Arrival time: Students should arrive by 8:40am ready for the start of the school day.

Wednesday 2nd September
The following year groups should attend school:
Year 7
Year 11
Year 12
Year 13
Arrival time: Students should arrive by 8:40am.

Thursday 3rd September
All year groups will be in school.
The following year groups will return for their first day:
Year 8
Year 9
Year 10
Students should arrive at the normal time of 8:40am.

It's not too late to get in touch about joining The Abbey School Sixth Form this September!

Courses in Business, Medical Science, History, Geography, Physics, Maths, English Lit/Lang, Media, Politics, Philosophy and Ethics have limited spaces available.

Back to school is just around the corner...

Before the new term starts, take 2–3 minutes to check if your child is eligible for Free School Meals. You will need to supply your National Insurance number as part of your checks.

Recent changes to the eligibility criteria mean more children may now qualify.
If your child is eligible, they could receive:
• A free school meal every day
• Saving you around £500 a year on school meals

Every successful application also brings an extra £505.40 to our school, helping us invest in further opportunities and support for all pupils.

Please note: if you have already applied for Free School Meals for next year, there is no need to reapply.

A final beach walk and clean, and a conservation talk followed by an evening camp quiz, including how much Swahili they have remembered.

It was then time for their final game and a journey to Nairobi.

Setting up camp they went for a walk through Nairobi National Park where the Giraffes popped up regularly to say hello. This camp was all focused on the wildlife foundation.

Day 2, they made a predator boma for a local family to protect their livestock. The team set up cameras to try and track black rhinos, which they went back to collect on Sunday. Whilst walking about, they saw many vultures and other birds. The bush babies were in full flow in the evening, competing for noise with the students.

The final day saw the nominations and awards for king and queen of the camp - voted for by their peers.

Daisy - Queen - runners up were Olivia and Natalie
Ryker - King - runners up were Connor and Ethan

They are all now on their homeward journey ready for hot showers and their own beds!
