Improving the facilities continues.

🚲 👷 Works to extend the bike track parking area at Edenbrook Country Park will begin from 1 September and last for six to eight weeks.

Access for the bike tracks and community garden will remain open, but please be aware that some existing spaces will be made into disabled bays. The car park extension will create approximately 30 new spaces with room for larger vehicles.

During this time, please adhere to any signage and be aware of machinery moving around site.

Really useful post on Defibrillator locations in the Fleet area!

Do You Know Where Your Nearest Defibrillator Is?

In a medical emergency, quick access to a defibrillator can save a life. Public defibrillators (AEDs) are designed for anyone to use, with clear instructions to help in a cardiac emergency.

You can find the nearest AED using the free 'Save a Life' app, which also provides CPR guidance.

You can also find a list of defibrillator locations in Fleet, along with link to app on our website

Always call 999 in an emergency for further assistance. Stay informed, be prepared, and help make a difference!

📮 FLEET POST OFFICE UPDATE

A quick update on efforts to restore a Post Office to Fleet town centre following the forthcoming closure of the counter in Morrisons Daily, following my promotion of the need for a new provider.

I chased the External Affairs Manger, who I had referred 5 interested busnesses to: There is now some positive news. The Post Office has confirmed there has been significant interest from potential new operators. Applications have now closed and they are assessing and shortlisting those who have applied.

For commercial reasons, they can’t publicly state who the applicants being considered are or the town centre locations being considered - but importantly, ✔️work is actively continuing to secure a new Fleet branch.

The less welcome news is the timescale ☹️
Morrisons in the high street closes in October. Once a new operator is selected, the Post Office advises it can typically take around six months to complete approvals, security, installation of a counter and staff training before a branch opens. That means there will be a period without a Post Office on our High Street.

In the meantime, the nearest alternatives will be:

📍 Ancells Farm Post Office – Tesco Express, Falkners Close
📍 Crookham Camp Post Office – Northfield Road

⚠️I know how important it is for Fleet to have a Post Office in the town centre, particularly for residents and businesses who rely on its services including banking as the only real alternative is the Nationwide. 👉 I’ll therefore keep pressing the Post Office for progress and updates, and to work as quickly as feasible.

As soon as I’m able to confirm a new operator, location or opening plans, I’ll share the news here. ➡️Please do follow my page to get latest updates.

Hopefully, the strong level of interest means we can get a permanent Post Office back in Fleet town centre as soon as possible. 🤞

🆕 I’m aware quite a few residents likely affected by the PO closure aren’t online or may not follow my page…so please do share and let anyone who might not have read this, by telling them or mailing them. 🙏

Just done ours too! Have you?

📧 We recently sent emails out to some residents asking them to confirm their details on the Electoral Register.
✅ This is part of our annual update as each year we check the details of everyone registered to vote. You'll need to be registered to vote to select councillors for the future new unitary authorities in May.
👍 If you receive the email please respond to avoid a follow up letter. No email? Don't worry! Some households aren't able to confirm by email or we don't hold an email address so we'll be sending letters to everyone needed soon.

Saturday 22nd August saw the third Music on the Views event in Fleet. It was a fantastic day, really well attended with brilliant weather and outstanding entertainment. RU40, JK as Robbie Williams, Los Pacaminos, The Counterfeit Beatles Beatles Tribute Band and Celebrate - A tribute to Kool and the Gang all providing great entertainment!

Thanks to all that helped put this popular local event together including Fleet Town Council and the The Harlington, Fleet, Church Crookham Parish Council, Heron Manor Care Home and The Elvetham.

The organisation was first class including great support from volunteers, the staff, Fleet Lions and Hart South Police

The suppliers provided great variation in food and beverage, thanks to all who supported the event including Caleb's Coffee, Chennai Express Fleet, Fleet Scouts and Fleet Gin, Rushmoor Rotary, Bayou Bites, O & T Catering, Whitelegg Catering, Clutterbox, Fleet BID, ALS Ices and Rothwell Festival Fun (my family bought 4 fantastic hats)

What a great day! Well done to all!!
