Brilliant local young people.

🏆 Four years ago, I helped introduce the Hart Youth Achievement Awards with Charlotte Tickner of Fleet Phoenix. We wanted to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our local young people.

I’m so proud to see the awards now in their fourth year, continuing to highlight courage, kindness, volunteering, fundraising and the determination of young people across Hart.

It was a real privilege for me to introduce the evening and be part of this year’s event - and to celebrate so many inspiring stories.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees - everyone should be proud of what they have achieved.

A huge thank you to Fleet Phoenix, the organising team, the Hart officers who suppported the event, sponsors and everyone who attended it helped make the evening so special.

👏 Let’s keep championing our young people! Their contributions deserve to be recognised, their potential nurtured and their achievements celebrated.

After it was raised with me by a couple of residents and one business I fed back that the temporary roadworks signage for the Upper Street Works - to access the Hart Shopping Centre car park - needed improving.

I’m pleased to confirm this should now be produced and installed promptly.

Sorry if some felt it wasn’t sufficient - useful feedback.

Elvetham Heath Parish Council has a vacancy for a new parish councillor, following the departure of Laura Lewis, who has recently stepped down.

I'd like to thank Laura for her service to the community and for everything she's contributed during her time on the council.

If you live in the parish of Elvetham Heath, are community minded, love the area and want only the best for it, why not step forward? It’s a non political role.

A vacancy can be filled by co-option, so you could be on the council sooner than you think.

Court Moor Area Roadworks 🚧
There are extended highways (surface, gullies, drainage channels and kerb) repairs being carried out on Greenways starting tomorrow 20 Oct for up to two weeks.

A road closure ⛔️will be in place through this period to allow for safe working. Access for residents will be permitted when safe.

The permit allows work up to the 2nd Nov, although the date may change - contractors will try to carry it out as speedily as practicable.

🏫These works may impact Court Moor School so please consider avoiding driving and walking - particularly the last stretch - if possible.

Nb I’m posting details as a couple of residents requested, since the County Councillor (Oliver) and District councillors for Church Crookham (which is that area South of the canal) typically don’t engage or use social media; if you have queries or problems please do contact them direct as they should both inform and represent residents.

Improving safety, notification and support for police - right the way across Hart.

Do you think there should be re-deplotable or mobile CCTV locally, monitored real time by Hart Council, in areas that have identified crime concerns?

If so where❓

There’s currently NO Hart monitored CCTV on Elvetham Heath, Hareshill, Edenbrook, Hartland Village, Ancells Farm, Crookham Village, and much of the rest of the wider Hart area. You can check the map of where there are CCTV on https://www.hart.gov.uk/community-safety/cctv-cameras

Rushmoor and many other districts in Hampshire now have these, including support from Donna Jones, the PCC. It’s shown to help deter crime and catch perpetrators. Disappointingly 😡Hart continues to delay the rollout of even updating their old fixed ones, and still doesn't appear to have - as yet - applied for or properly consider re-locateable monitored CCTV to fill the gaps - or focus on known crime areas including fly tipping in real time.

Many would like that to change… so please comment or mail me and the Hart cabinet. I’ll do my best to get them to find funding and use these - if you agree they’re needed.

Does your school have space for some free fruit trees and strawberry plants? 🍎🌳

Veolia - UK, which provides recycling and waste treatment services across Hampshire, is inviting local schools to take part in their Veolia Orchard campaign.

The scheme helps children learn how food grows while creating valuable habitats for wildlife. Schools can apply for five free fruit trees, or ten strawberry plants if outdoor space is limited.

This year, Veolia hopes to plant its 1,000th orchard as part of its growing nationwide "family tree".

Applications must be made by schools by 16 November.

It’s so positive to see this new school expansion nearby, in Aldershot, opening. It will help provide for the new housing in that area.

It doesn’t seem that long ago since it was ‘signed off’ and then the building started.

Great to see the continued progress with brilliant support thanks to Cllr Roz Chadd and Cllr Juliet Henderson.

Earlier this week I was at this wonderful event hearing debate from Robert Mays School, Calthorpe Park School, Court Moor School and Cranbourne School.

The topics discussed were important, and meaningfully deliberated by the 220 attendees who represented a host of United Nations members extremely well. The quality of work was remarkable. I particularly enjoyed the quick fire Q&A after the motions were presented.

My thanks to the school team for hosting the evening and to Ranil Jayawardena who gave some insight into the topics covered.
