We are celebrating with our Year 11 some fantastic results this year which appear to be amongst our best ever for progress. We are particularly pleased with the resilience of these students who lost both Year 5 and Year 6 to covid and we are thrilled that almost every student left with a full set of GCSEs. In the current climate, with the various challenges there are, we applaud those students who worked through difficulties and can proudly carry a complete set of GCSE grades into their future.

We have some students leaving with stunning results, whilst we prefer not to pick out certain students with ‘the best’ grades publicly, that's not to say we're not incredibly proud of their achievement. Equally, there are students with more modest results which represent a significant level of progress over their time at Court Moor and their hard work has led to them gaining life-changing grades. Congratulations to all of our students whatever their level of achievement.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the parents who have worked alongside us in preparing the young people for this challenge. We were overwhelmed by the number of parents who attended our GCSE workshop evenings; the sharing of ideas (and a lovely curry) was so useful in us being able to work shoulder-to-shoulder to get the very best outcomes for our children.

We wish our former Year 11 all the best in the many and varied pathways they are taking and hope that they always carry a bit of Court Moor in their heart!

We had our whole school end of year assembly this morning.

Our master of ceremonies was the marvellous Mr McEnroe ⭐, we were treated to a performance from our wonderful school jazz band 🎹🎷🥁, followed by a message from our head students, and Mrs Beattie's end of year address. We then had a second musical performance from a fantastic year 8 student singer 🎶🎤, and the first of our "guess the singer" challenge videos featuring the learning coaches and music from ABBA 👩‍🎤🎤🤔. This was followed by a rousing house chant from our students 📢, a Western themed challenge for our heads of house 🤠🐎, and the second of our "guess the singer" challenge videos featuring the PE department and music from Oasis 👨‍🎤🎤🤔. The assembly ended with photo montages from sports day and the whole school year 📷.

We said goodbye to staff that are moving on to pastures new or retiring, and wish them the very best for the future: Mr Braganza, Mrs Hook, Ms Jouan, Mrs Lilly, Mrs Martinez-Rojas, Mr Sandford, and Mrs Vale

Miss Rollason gave the final house point standings for the year: 4th Pacific, 3rd Sahara, 2nd Everest, 1st Nile. Well done Nile house! 👏👏👏

We have included the videos from our heads of house and guess the singer challenges so the Court Moor community can play along at home. For the heads of house challenge, can you guess which of our heads of house comes first in the horse race? For the guess the singer challenges, only one of the five members of staff is actually singing, can you guess who it is? Check in with a student for the correct answers!

Wishing all our students and parents/carers a fantastic summer holiday! 🌞

Some reminders for the summer holidays and the start of autumn term:
⦁ GCSE results day is on Thursday 20th August, with results available for collection from 10.00am – 11.30am from the Retreat. For further details please see our website https://www.court-moor.hants.sch.uk/93/examination-information

Yesterday the English Department welcomed the wonderful The Globe Players to Court Moor School to put on a double bill performance, of An Inspector Calls for our year 10 students, and Macbeth for our year 9 students.

The cohort were an outstanding and engaged audience and the Globe Players commented on how impressed they were by student comments and questions about the text and characters!

In Year 10 French lessons with Ms Jouan yesterday our students were playing both French board games, and English board games but using only French language.

Some example of the former included "Les Courses à Faire" where students had to assemble a shopping list, and "Sept Familles" where students had to try and match sets of animal family members. Examples of the latter were playing Guess Who but using only questions and answers in French to narrow down the search, and playing Word Bits but creating only French words. Playing these games helps to learn words and reinforce vocabulary.

Well done to our year 10 students for embracing this activity so enthusiastically!

We are continuing with showcasing our Academic Student Leaders. These are students that have applied for an academic leadership role to support a particular department to gain further subject experience, to contribute to activities and clubs, to help with resources, and complete other jobs within the department. Student leaders gain a subject specific badge.

This week we are showcasing our Drama Subject Ambassadors who have been helping with the drama club.

Well done to our student leaders for their upstanding contribution and help with our departments!

⭐Year 10 Celebration of Achievement⭐

This morning we had our final celebration of achievement assembly with year 10.

We had an amazing musical performance of Wonderwall with both guitar player and singer from year 10. This was followed by the subject awards:

- Humanities: History, Geography, PRE, and Sociology
- Arts: Art, Textiles, the Phillips Cup for Drama, and Music
- Technology: the Ormolu prize for Design Technology, Catering, Food and Nutrition, the Mike Burke Cup for Engineering, and Computing.
- We were privileged to have some special guests from BAE Systems to award the winning team from the engineering competition that was run in May, to design an off-road vehicle
- Modern Foreign Languages: French, German, and Mandarin
- PE
- Classics
- Business Studies

The subject awards were followed by our special awards:
- the Head of Year award, presented by Mrs Gillard-Jenner, for the student demonstrating the most perseverance during the year

Thanks to Miss Rollason and Mr Pope for putting together all of the celebration of achievement assemblies!

🤔The Big Fat Quiz of Court Moor🤔

After school today we had The Big Fat Quiz of Court Moor, MC'd by Mr Pope.

It was great to see student teams from across years 7-10 along with a staff team. Like the TV version, the quiz included some tough current affairs questions from across the year, with an additional Court Moor category.

It came down to a nail-biting tiebreak question for two student teams that had scored identical points. The tiebreak question was: how much did our amazing marathon walking student team raise? The team with the closest answer won. Well done to that year 9 team who won some sweets!

Thanks to Mr Pope for putting the quiz together, and to the staff actors that were filmed for some of the questions, including an uncannily realistic Donald Trump impression from Mr Baker.

⭐Year 9 Celebration of Achievement⭐

This morning was year 9's turn for their celebration of achievement assembly.

We had another fantastic singing performance from a student in year 9. This was followed by the subject awards, across the core subjects (Maths, English (with separate awards for the subject itself, and also Sparx Reader and Creative Writing), and Science), then Humanities (History, Geography, PRE, and Social Studies), Arts (Art, Drama, Music), Technology (Design Technology, Bake Off, and Computing), MFL (Modern Foreign Languages, which are Spanish and German), and PE. During the past few weeks, teaching departments have nominated students for these awards based on progress and effort and then chosen a winner. The winning students were announced this morning and presented with their certificates.

The subject awards were followed by some special awards:
- the Head of Year award, presented by Mr Coombs, for the student demonstrating the most perseverance during the year
- the Headteacher award, presented by Mrs Beattie, for the most nominated student in the subject categories
- the House Point Champions award, for the tutor group with the most house points, won by 9SKS

The assembly ended with a video montage of photos from across the past school year.
