THE LOCAL PLAN CONSULTATION IS STARTED
IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT EVERYONE SEES THIS AND RESPONDS

This is made up of land on which owners would like to see developed.
These sites do not currently have planning application lodged, but if they are adopted in the new local plan it will be very difficult to stop development going ahead. In other words it is quite likely they will be built on.
For this reason it is important everyone reviews this and makes an informed choice. Apathy will lead to these sites being adopted in the local plan. Don't assume your views will be ignored , the reason this consultation is held is to judge the "local feel. " This is what happened with Steppingly Field in Flitwick.
Remember there will be pressure to build more houses now the Universal Studios park is being built. We are within that catchment area.
In Flitton and Greenfield we have, in recent years, seen two relatively large developments and many people might feel we have already had our share.
We might consider we have the character of a small village. We don't have infrastructure such as shops etc. We have a poor bus service, so new residents would need to increase traffic on our already heavily used roads. Walking to Flitwick along the road is very hazardous due to narrow pavements. We have an overloaded sewage system which floods Mill Lane with sewage when it rains. Anglian Water refuse to stop this, and more houses will make matters worse.
Below is the map showing the sites being considered. The link leads to the descriptive list of the sites.
Unfortunately CBC have decided that every separate site needs an individual objection (or message of support).
It's a big ask. Tell your neighbours. Don't let this slip through.
Your parish council will consider these sites but that's not enough. As many people as possible need to take action.

Dry recycling collections will resume from Monday 23 March ♻️

Following the catastrophic fire at a waste transfer facility in Bletchley, dry recycling collections had to be paused while the council secured an alternative waste transfer site.

If you’re due a dry recycling collection during the week starting Monday 23 March, please put your dry recycling bin out on your collection day as normal, from 7am.

If you’re due a household waste collection during the week starting Monday 23 March, please put your black bin out on your collection day as normal, from 7am.

More information is available on our website 👉 www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/bin-pause

Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we resolved this situation.

Please share this update with friends, family, and neighbours who may not be on Facebook, so everyone has the information they need.

MESSAGE FROM CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

Recycling in Central Bedfordshire is about to get a whole lot easier.

From 30 March 2026, Central Bedfordshire residents will be able to recycle glass bottles and jars using their dry recycling bins/bags, and new weekly food waste collections for flats mean even more households can take part in recycling food waste.

This is a major step forward in making recycling easier and more consistent for residents in accordance with our Waste Strategy, which supports the Council’s environmental ambitions.

These service improvements are in line with the national Simpler Recycling reforms introduced by the UK Government. The legislation requires councils to have weekly food waste collections for all households and ensure a consistent range of recyclable materials is collected from homes.

What this means for residents

From 30 March 2026:

? Glass bottles and jars can be recycled at home using existing dry recycling bins or sacks

? Weekly food waste collections will be introduced for residents living in flats, ensuring all households can recycle food waste

? Changes to some bin lorry routes will need to take place to increase capacity for the new recycling service. All affected households will receive a letter with plenty of notice and updated collection dates will be published on the council’s website before the changes take effect.
