A huge well done to George Y8 and the other players and parents from Sale FC U13s Rugby Team who volunteered for a full day at the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday.

The team supported runners in the finish area, helping direct and congratulate participants, as well as unpacking and handing out recovery drinks. Their hard work and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated by organisers and runners alike.

This fantastic effort forms part of the team's fundraising journey towards their 2027 rugby tour, while also demonstrating the values of teamwork, community spirit and service.

πŸ‘ A brilliant example of young people making a positive difference in their community. Well done George!

🌱🍏 Plant to Plate! 🍏🌱

This half term in P6, our Eco Ambassadors and MasterChefs teamed up to take food from the garden to the kitchen! From growing and picking apples in our eco area to preparing them in the food room, students experienced every step of the journey from plant to plate.

Using their home-grown produce, they cooked up a delicious classic apple crumble to take home and enjoy with their families. πŸŽπŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Activities like this help develop teamwork, sustainability awareness and valuable life skills, while showing our students exactly where their food comes from.

This morning, we welcomed our School Nursing team into school to deliver informative and engaging workshops for our Year 10 students on the important topics of drugs and alcohol.

The sessions explored the effects that drugs and alcohol can have on physical and mental health, relationships, decision-making and future opportunities. Students were encouraged to think about the risks associated with substance misuse, challenge common misconceptions, and develop the knowledge needed to make safe and informed choices as they grow older.

At Wellacre, we are committed to supporting the personal development and wellbeing of every student. Workshops such as these help equip our young people with the confidence, resilience and understanding they need to navigate the challenges of modern life.

A huge thank you to our School Nursing team for delivering such valuable sessions and helping our students make informed choices for a healthy future.

🌟 Pastoral Care at Wellacre 🌟

At Wellacre, pastoral care plays a vital role in school life. We are committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to thrive, both inside and outside the classroom.

As recognised by Ofsted (June 2026):

"Pastoral support is integral to the fabric of school life at Wellacre Academy. Leaders make sure that pupils receive the right support at the right time."

We believe that when students feel supported, valued, and understood, they are empowered to achieve their very best. Our dedicated pastoral team works closely with students and families to promote wellbeing, resilience, and success every step of the way.

Today's some of our Year 7 and Year 10 students had the exciting opportunity to take part in a live BBC Bayeux Tapestry broadcast.

It was an amazing experience for our boys, who learned fascinating facts about the 70-metre-long Bayeux Tapestry from a range of experts and professionals. The session explored the story depicted within the tapestry, encouraged students to think about historical perspective and bias, and brought history to life through interactive activities and discussion.

Students also enjoyed live interactive moments and the opportunity to take part in a Q&A session, where they could put their questions directly to the experts. A brilliant experience that was both educational and engaging, with our boys having fun while learning.

A fantastic experience for everyone involved!

Today's lunchtime LEGO Club for Years 7 & 8 is all about creativity, teamwork and problem-solving! 🧱

Through activities like LEGO Club, we give our boys the opportunity to develop skills that reflect our core values every day. Whether they're collaborating on a build, showing resilience when things don't go to plan, or using their imagination to create something new, these experiences help build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

At Wellacre, we believe learning happens beyond the classroom, and clubs like this encourage our students to be ambitious, respectful and engaged members of our school community.
