Cairngorms National Park Fire 🚒🔥

Over the past four weeks, firefighters from our station, along with crews from right across Scotland, have been called upon numerous times to assist at the Cairngorms National Park fire.

It has been a challenging and demanding period, with long days, difficult conditions and time away from our families and normal lives. But everyone involved has continued to give their very best to help bring this incident to a safe conclusion.

First and foremost, a huge thank you to our families. ❤️

Your love, patience, understanding and continued support throughout this incident has meant more than we can put into words. Being called away at short notice and spending so much time away from home isn't easy, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do behind the scenes.

To our employers — thank you. 👏

Your continued support and understanding allows us to step away from our workplaces when we are needed most. It is genuinely appreciated and never taken for granted.

To our fellow firefighters and colleagues from across Scotland — thank you. 🚒

It has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated, professional and hardworking people. Despite the challenges, there has been plenty of teamwork, laughter and camaraderie — and without a doubt, a few new friendships have been made along the way.

A very special thank you to the teams at Glenmore Lodge and the amazing volunteers at Nethy Bridge Community Hall. ❤️

The food, home bakes, hot drinks and, perhaps most importantly, the warm welcome and kindness you showed everyone working at the incident made a huge difference.

When crews are tired, cold and working long hours, those small acts of kindness mean an incredible amount.

The support we receive from our families, employers, colleagues and communities is appreciated throughout the year — but during incidents like this, you really see just how important that support is.

To every single person who played a part, whether on the frontline or behind the scenes — thank you.

We are proud to serve our communities and proud to stand alongside so many fantastic people.

Stay safe everyone. 🚒❤️

Just over three weeks into the Cairngorm wildfire incident, and our crew are still responding alongside colleagues from across the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

We would once again like to thank our employers for their continued support in allowing us to leave work when the pager goes. Without that understanding and flexibility, our on-call firefighters simply couldn’t provide this vital service to our communities.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to our families, partners and loved ones. Their patience and support, often at short notice, makes it possible for us to answer the call whenever it’s needed.

We would also like to thank the communities of Nethy Bridge and Aviemore for their generosity throughout this incident. The meals, hot drinks, cakes and shelter they have provided to firefighters and everyone involved in the response have been greatly appreciated. At a time when they are witnessing the impact of this devastating fire on such a beautiful part of the country, their support has meant a great deal to everyone on the ground.

Finally, thank you to all firefighters, Control colleagues, support staff and everyone else involved in the response to this incident.

Stay safe everyone.

Team R45 P6.🚒❤️

Over the past couple of weeks, the crew at Fochabers Fire Station has been incredibly busy supporting the ongoing wildfire incident across the Cairngorms National Park and surrounding areas.

Throughout this incident, we've had the privilege of working alongside colleagues from across Scotland, building new friendships and strengthening the teamwork that is essential during incidents of this scale. We'd also like to thank our partner agencies, including RSPB, local contractors, gamekeepers and Forestry and Land Scotland. Your support, knowledge and dedication continue to make a huge difference.

A special thank you goes to our families, who have sacrificed valuable time with us over the past couple of weeks, particularly during the school summer holidays. Your patience, understanding and unwavering support mean more than words can say.

We'd also like to express our sincere gratitude to our employers for their continued support of the retained service. A huge thank you to Boiler & Valve Engineering, Baxters Speyside, Moray Council and SWG Valeting for allowing their staff to respond and support this ongoing incident during working hours. Your commitment to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and your local community does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated by everyone in SFRS.

Finally, thank you to Glenmore Lodge, the Nethy Bridge community and local residents for continuing to keep crews fed and watered. Your kindness and generosity have helped keep everyone going during long and demanding days on the fireground.

While the incident is still ongoing, we wanted to take a moment to recognise and thank everyone who has supported the response so far. It has been a tremendous team effort, and we are proud to stand alongside so many dedicated people working to protect our communities and our countryside.

From everyone at Fochabers Fire Station (R45P6), Thank You. 🚒🔥❤️

Don't Block the Lifeline!
Imagine needing help, but the emergency services are stuck down the road. Every single second counts during a crisis, yet emergency vehicles face delays every day due to poorly parked cars.
When you park your vehicle, please take an extra moment to think: "Could a fire engine or an ambulance get past me?"
Quick Tips for Considerate Parking:
Check the Gap: Fire engines need a clearance width of at least 3 metres (10 feet) to pass safely. If it looks tight for a large delivery lorry, a fire engine won't make it either.
Mind the Corners: Avoid parking too close to junctions or on sharp bends. Large emergency vehicles need extra room to swing around corners.
Fold Them In: Always tuck your wing mirrors in and straighten your wheels to maximize available road space.
Follow the Lines: Respect double yellow lines, zig-zag markings, and designated emergency access routes—they are there for a reason.
Remember: Bad parking can cost lives. Park smart, park considerately, and keep the roads clear for those who save lives!
