Have your say on the draft Fordingbridge Neighbourhood Plan

Shaped by local people through conversations, workshops and surveys, the draft plan sets out how Fordingbridge should grow and change: how new homes are designed, how we protect our heritage and green spaces, and how we keep the town centre thriving. Once adopted, planning decisions must take it into account. This is the formal Pre-Submission (Regulation 14) consultation. Every comment will be read and considered before the plan goes to independent examination and a local referendum.

• Read the plan available for download at https://fordingbridge.gov.uk/nppc/ , or pick up a paper copy at Fordingbridge Information Office in King's Yard, open Mon, Wed & Fri 10am-4pm.
• Use the survey to comment on as many or as few policies as you like. Tell us what you support, what you’d change and why. Specific comments help most.
• Allow about 20–25 minutes for the survey.
• Visit our drop-in exhibition at Fordingbridge Town Hall on Thursday 5, Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November to talk to the team.

The consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 30 November 2026.

This is your plan, for your town.

* Latest update from SGN - 13th October *

Road Closure – Station Road, Fordingbridge for essential gas main replacement

SGN engineers have completed the engineering repairs to the gas leak on Station Road in Fordingbridge. Road reinstatement and surfacing is booked in as a priority and subject to curing times the road will be back open by midday on Thursday at the latest.

The road cannot be re-opened until the excavations have been backfilled and the road surface is set and safe for vehicles to drive on. The road surface is deep and will take time to cure. There will be limited visibility of engineers on site while the resurfacing takes place. As soon as the road is safe to drive on the road will reopen.

SGN are sorry for the disruption caused and thank you for your patience and understanding.

* Emergency closure announcement Monday 12th October *

Road Closure - Emergency Gas Repair Works - Station Road, Fordingbridge
SGN emergency engineers have been called to attend a gas escape on Station Road, at the junction with Sandle Copse.

Due to the location of the damaged gas pipe within the carriageway, and to ensure the safety of the public and our workforce, Station Road will need to
be closed with immediate effect from Monday 12 October while we carry out urgent investigations and repairs.

What this means for you

• There will be no through vehicle access along Station Road past the closure in either direction. A signed diversion route will be in place.
• Vehicle access will be maintained to Sandle Copse and the farm opposite. Our site team and local signage will guide road users and keep residents informed of access arrangements.
• Bin collections will remain unchanged unless you are advised otherwise by your service provider.

Bus routes using Station Road will be affected. Passengers are advised to contact their bus operator directly for the latest service information and alternative travel arrangements.

At this stage, it is too early to confirm how long the investigation and repair work will take. We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

For the latest update, please visit: https://www.sgn.co.uk/our-gas-works/roadworks-your-area

We appreciate the disruption this emergency closure may cause and thank the local community for their patience and understanding. Our engineers will be working as quickly and safely as possible to complete this urgent repair and restore normal access.

The red line on the map below indicates the location of the road closure.

We have noticed an increase in household waste being disposed of in public bins across the town, including in Fordingbridge Recreation Ground. We wish to remind residents that household waste must not be deposited in public bins.

Any excess waste that does not fit in your wheelie bin* can be bagged and taken to a household waste recycling centre (HWRC). It must not be placed in litter bins, dog bins or other public bins. Disposing of waste by unauthorised routes in this way is illegal under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 – Section 33.

To book an appointment to visit your Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) click the link
https://www.hants.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling/recyclingcentres

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

* If your household uses sacks instead of wheelie bins up to 2 rubbish sacks are collected from your property every 2 weeks

You must book an appointment to access a HWRC
