Fareshare/Felix run Food Larder, Avonway Community Centre

This week (14th August), we will be running the larder from 12pm-1pm instead of the usual 1.15-2.15pm. This is due to the increased traffic across the New Forest because of the fire that happened at the weekend. We want to ensure our drivers are able to get back to site at a reasonable time which has been tricky over this week as I am sure you can imagine.

Fordingbridge Town Council Recreation Ground

The grounds team were disappointed to find the remains of a BBQ inside the play area last night – despite the number of signs around the recreation ground asking that NO FIRES OR BBQs are lit – not only is this a fire risk, the coals were left unattended and a child may have stepped on them. If you see anyone having a BBQ at the recreation ground please report it as soon as possible calling 999.

Please be aware that there is a large wasp nest located on the section of The Avon Valley Path between St Mary's Church and the sewage works. We advise users to avoid this area and use the alternative route as pictured below. Posters have been put up at both ends of this section of the path and we recommend bypassing this via Frog lane.

We have been in contact with Hampshire County Council who are in the process of contacting the landowner to request the nest is treated and removed.

31/07/27 Update
Hampshire County Council have advised the following regarding the planned roadworks on Salisbury Road on 3rd & 4th August
The Highways team will complete the work on Salisbury Road in two sections to accommodate the buses.

Section 1: Green Lane to Alexandra Road (Monday 3rd July) – In red
Section 2: Alexandra Road to the A338 Salisbury Road (Tuesday 4th July) – In Green

X3 Information

3rd - 4th Aug 2026

These diversions will be in place while the road is closed - this is a fluid situation on each seperate day depending on the progress of the works on site. As soon as the road opens [and we know about it] buses will return to correct route.

Day 1 - Buses towards Salisbury will run via Green Lane, Whitsbury Road and Waverley Road.

Day 1 - Buses towards Ringwood will continue on the by pass at Burgate, and serve the town from the south end and run via Green Lane, Whitsbury Road and Waverley Road back to the by pass and then to Ringwood.

Day 2 - Buses towards Salisbury will *not* be able to serve Fordingbridge at all [including The Rec, closest stop near Burgate School/ Kingfisher Drive] while Salisbury Road between Alexandra Road and Burgate is being worked on.

Day 2 - Buses towards Ringwood will continue on the by pass at Burgate, and serve the town from the south end and loop Green Lane and Park Road.

**** Update: We are in contact with Hampshire County Coucil to seek clarification regarding the diversionary routes and buses. We will update our social media one we have confirmation.

As part of Hampshire County Council’s annual Planned Maintenance programme, they will be undertaking carriageway micro asphalt works along Salisbury Road, Fordingbridge from the A338 to Green Lane.

The purpose of the treatment is to return a surface texture to the carriageway, that in a recent condition survey was highlighted as being poor. The treatment is also designed to regulate the shape of the road and seal the road structure from water ingress, which will help prevent potholes from forming.

These works are currently programmed to start on the 3rd August 2026 and are expected to take up to 4 days to complete. During this time the road will be closed from approximately 05:00 on 3rd August 2026 through to 22:00 hours 6th August 2026. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will only be maintained if safe to do so during the works, and small amounts of traffic in the early life of the treatment will not be detrimental. Pedestrian access to properties will not be affected, and emergency vehicles will have access at all times.

Whilst there is an allowance within the time periods shown above for delays, there may be times when they have to postpone works at very short notice; based on the latest weather forecasts, this can occur just prior to works commencing. They will look to provide up to date information wherever able, but they have advised that sometimes last-minute decisions can be difficult to relay to the travelling public in a timely manner. Where they can, any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.

Information signs advising road users will be erected before the start of works.
