2515 Ringwood & Fordingbridge Squadron Air Cadets

September marks the 70th Anniversary of some of the first The Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions in 1956.

The Squadron has always been very active with all things Duke of Edinburgh Award with cadets completing across all levels, and high amount of cadets aspiring to their Gold Awards. Over the last year we have seen 5 Gold Awards achieved at 2515 Squadron which is a fantastic achievement for the individuals as well as the staff who support and put on all the expeditions.

Once a cadet achieves their Gold Awards they are invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate their success with a Garden Party Event. This summer 2 of our Gold cadets attending their celebration ceremonies huge congratulations to both CWO Ringrose and CWO Blackmore-Wells.

Cadets from 2515 Squadron, alongside cadets from Hythe Squadron Air Training Corps, have been back on the air rifle range.

The evening comprised of safety briefings, undertaking Weapon Handling Tests, and working through elements of the progressive training syllabus.

4 cadets were awarded their Blue Shot Badge, and a further 3 awarded their Bronze Shot Badge.

Recently we ran a safety night at the Squadron, including a mini scavenger hunt around Fordingbridge to locate all the 24/7 AEDs, our emergency rendezvous points as well as a quick Run Hide Tell practice, which highlighted that some cadets need a little more practice on their hiding techniques.

A fun evening but with a serious safety message behind it. Ones we hope to never have to use but being prepared saves lives!

Cadets have been busy working across the progressive training syllabus earning their Blue Wings, Blue Leadership as well as Blue Shot on the Air Rifle.

Cadets took to the Skies in the Viking Gliders at 622VGS, a great day soaring with some fantastic thermals aiding in the cadets experiences.

What else is there to do during a heatwave, other than use our STEM MTa Learning kits as part of a team building activity to make catapults for a water fight. Followed by a full blow individual water fight of course!
