We want to hear your views on Council-maintained public parks and open spaces across Angus.

We’re developing an Open Space Strategy to help make sure residents have access to high-quality public open spaces. The strategy will look at the amount, location, accessibility, condition and use of spaces such as parks, playing fields, woodlands, rivers and ponds, as well as public civic spaces like town squares and market places.

Climate Ready Tayside is hosting a week-long programme of events, from 7–13 September 2026, showcasing how nature-based solutions are helping to create a more climate-ready Tayside.

Across the week, communities, practitioners, businesses, land managers and public sector organisations will come together to explore projects that are restoring rivers, creating wetlands, supporting sustainable food production, enhancing urban green spaces, improving coastal resilience and delivering community-led action for nature and climate.

The programme includes site visits, guided walks, open days, and a flagship conference.

Whether you're involved in environmental management, land use, community development, or are simply interested in learning more about nature-based solutions, the events over this week offer a chance to connect, learn and be inspired by the work already happening across Tayside.

The Beacon Open Morning

Come along to an open morning at The Beacon Angus to find out more about the community wellbeing centre in Arbroath, and how you or a loved one can access support.

You’ll have the chance to explore the welcoming space and find out more about how The Beacon offers community support for anyone living in Angus who is aged 16 and over.

Angus Council Appoints New Housing Repairs Contractors

Angus Council Housing Service is pleased to announce the appointment of new contractors to deliver our reactive repairs and void repairs services across Angus from 1 today - September 2026.

The new contracts will help us continue to provide a responsive, high-quality repairs service for tenants, ensuring homes are maintained to a good standard and are ready for new tenants as quickly as possible.

Reactive Repairs Contractors

The new reactive repairs contracts have been awarded as follows:
• Arbroath: Cardo Scotland Ltd
• Carnoustie & Monifieth: Derek McNulty Joinery & Building
• Montrose & Brechin: QAPM Ltd
• Forfar & Kirriemuir: Pert Bruce Construction Ltd

Voids Repairs Contractors

The void repairs contracts, which involve preparing empty council homes for new tenants, have been awarded as follows:
• Arbroath: Derek McNulty Joinery & Building
• Carnoustie & Monifieth: QAPM Ltd
• Montrose & Brechin: MP Group UK
• Forfar & Kirriemuir: MP Group UK

Transition Update - What this means for tenants

Repairs reported before 1 September will remain with our previous contractor, even if the repair is due to be carried out after 1 September. Repairs reported from 1 September onwards will be passed to our new contractor.
Tenants do not need to take any action, and new repairs should continue to be reported through the usual Angus Council Housing Service channels.

The new repairs and void contracts have been designed to provide a better, more responsive service for tenants. By separating the contracts for day-to-day repairs and empty homes (voids), each contractor can focus on their specialist area, helping to improve performance and reduce delays.
The new arrangements also provide increased capacity and clearer accountability, supporting faster repairs, quicker turnaround of empty homes, and improved quality of work. This will help more homes become available for letting sooner, and ensure tenants receive a more reliable repairs service.

How to request a repair
Tenants can continue to report non-emergency repairs using Housing Online - https://orlo.uk/ikLOG or by calling the Customer Contact Centre on 03452 777 778.

In our final Community Council Elections 2026 video, we highlight a project several community councils want to take forward with support from the Police Scotland Tayside Community Policing Team – Carnoustie, Monifieth & The Sidlaws.

The Community Speedwatch project aims to allow local communities to help tackle speeding concerns in their area.

It’s just one example of the projects you could get involved in by joining your local community council. Nominations close at 4pm on Wednesday 2 September.

🚲 Join us for a series of fun, family-friendly bike rides this August and September!

We’re partnering with Angus Cycle Hub to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get out on their bikes, explore the local area and enjoy some fresh air together.

Rides in Montrose, Arbroath and Forfar will take place at a safe, relaxed pace, using predominantly traffic-free routes. Whether you’re a regular cyclist or just looking to get out on your bike, it’s a great chance to discover local routes and meet new people.

Some people may still have unused TV Licence Savings Stamps even though the savings stamps scheme closed 20 years ago.

Refunds for stamps are still available, but only until 31 December 2026.

After that, refund requests will no longer be accepted, regardless of the number or value of stamps held.

If you think you may have savings stamps –

• Check drawers, books, folders or boxes where savings stamps may have been kept
• Look out for small rectangular “TV Licence” stamps showing a monetary value (often orange, brown, green or blue)
• Submit a refund claim as soon as possible, rather than waiting until the deadline

Reclaiming savings stamps does not affect your current TV licence, how you pay or any payment plan in place.
