Calling all Wildlife Trackers!

We have some fantastic wildlife on our Estate - but could you identify them just from their footprint?

Bring the kids and take part in our Tracker Trail throughout the 'Tattie' holidays. They can try to work out what animals print is on our tree discs which are around the outside of the Castle, don't worry, we give you clues to help (and we don't even need you to get it all right, it is the taking part that counts).

After your trail, the kids will receive a prize for taking part; a mini magnifying glass, a notebook to record your sightings, a pencil, a wee wildlife sticker - and your own Tracker Certificate to show you are a licensed Brodie Castle Tracker!

The cost for each child taking part is £2.75 and you don't need to book, you can just pick up your map and form at the Welcome Centre.

And if you enjoy taking part, why not take a look at some of the nature and wildlife related products which we have in our Welcome Centre shop to do more? We have some great books for kids to learn more about nature, binoculars and bug pots to go hunting and more! You may also be able to pick up a cuddly toy for a keepsake too!

The tattie holidays have arrived at Brodie Castle and Estate and it is great to see so many families out and about enjoying the nice weather we have had the last couple of days - long may it continue!

However, there is a chill in the air and the threat of rain is always about, so we do have our Children's Tours available over the holidays if you want to extend your visit and enjoy some time in the Castle itself!

Our Children's Tours are a fun way to make life in a castle interesting and accessible for younger children.

They are aimed at children around 4 to 12 years old and our guides are great at bringing the castle to life for children - and their accompanying adults as well!

The tour lasts around 45 minutes to an hour and explores what it was like to live in a castle like this at different time periods, including weapons, the clan system and how they lived (and how they went to the toilet before indoor plumbing!)

Tickets are avaiable on Eventbrite if you want to pre-book and there are also some available on the day on a first-come-first-served basis. The Eventbrite link is in the comments below.

Brodie Illuminated 2026 | The Land of the Picts

Brodie Illuminated 2026 runs over four evenings each week (Thursday to Sunday) from Thursday the 5th of November until Sunday the 29th of November.

Wrap up warm for an immersive evening where we take visitors on a journey and walk in the footsteps of the Picts. Experience the intricate and mesmerising art of these mysterious people brought to life through projection, light and sound installations.

Inspired by the Pictish Stone which sits proudly at the entrance of the Brodie Estate, symbols, stories and artistry will be showcased along the imaginative illuminated trail.

Bring your friends and family along for a captivating evening for everyone to enjoy.

Our Playful Cafe will be open throughout the evening for hot drinks and snacks.

Playful Garden Cafe

The team at Brodie Castle & Estate are preparing to say goodbye to a favourite tree as the beloved Copper Beech tree is due to be removed. 💛

The Copper Beech tree has been struggling with advanced decay over the last decade. The latest in-depth survey highlighted a notable deterioration in the wood fibres in the stem and at the base of the large limb leaning towards the path, and recent surveys have discovered that a new decay fungi, Meripilus Giganteus, has erupted around the tree. Meripilus causes extensive root decay in broadleaves, especially mature beech and is a major cause of windblow and decay can be rapid.

We had hoped that we could enjoy this magnificent tree in the Brodie landscape for a few more years, but sadly given its proximity to people and the castle, there is no other option than to remove it.

We are very sad to lose such a prominent tree within the landscape at Brodie, but we must act to ensure the safety of visitors and everyone who might be affected should it fall.

This will be upsetting for all of us and in time, once the site has settled, a suitable replacement will be planted nearby.

Any usable timber from the tree will be sent to a local sawmill to create a sculpture, so that a lasting memory of this magnificent tree can stay on the estate.

Please take care and use designated paths while visiting.

Join us this Saturday at 4.30PM for the spectacular Flying Ceilidh at Brodie Castle!

Step into a world where the spirit of ceilidh meets aerial performance and outdoor spectacle. Watch burling, singing, spinning and dancing with live music and high flying aerial performers.

Gather and enjoy as the steps and traditions of the ceilidh take off into the air. As the energy builds, the dance floor is opened up to you, the audience, to join in and give a partner a wheech about the floor.

Created and performed by All or Nothing Aerial Dance Theatre with guest appearances from Moray Flying Circus, local musicians and dancers.
The Flying Ceilidh is for all the family. Bring your picnics, blankets, camping chairs, and come enjoy this musical and visual spectacle. 💛

Our cafe at Brodie Castle will be open pre- and post-show with warm drinks and snacks available. ☕
