At 3:49pm on Monday 22nd June 2026, MIRO Crew were paged by HM Coastguard following the report of a yacht having lost power near to Lossiemouth Harbour that required towed back to the marina.

Crew immediately attended and MIRO Rescue was launched and made best speed towards the reported location of the casualty vessel.

A nearby yacht responded to the Coastguard Pan Pan call on the radio for assistance and assisted by towing it back to Lossiemouth.

MIRO Rescue was subsequently stood down as it was passing Burghead and returned to Findhorn where it was refuelled and made ready.

At 10:14am on Monday 15th June 2026, MIRO Crew were paged by HM Coastguard following a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) alert in the Moray Firth

Crew immediately attended and MIRO Rescue was launched within 10 minutes of being paged, and made best speed towards the reported location of the PLB.

On arrival the crew informed HM Coastguard that there was nothing obvious at the scene in relation to potential vessels or persons in distress requiring assistance.

The crew were then instructed by HM Coastguard to commence a sector search of the area covering approximately 22 sq nautical miles.

Also carrying out a systematic search in the area at this time were the crew from RNLI Invergordon.

Whilst conducting the search, MIRO Rescue was informed by HM Coastguard that PLB had been activated in error and it was established thay there was no emergency requiring assistance.

MIRO Rescue was subsequently stood down at 12:15pm and returned to Findhorn where it was refuelled and made ready.

Although not winners this time, MIRO were delighted to be nominated and attend the Moray & Banffshire Hero Awards, where the representatives heard amazing stories of local real life heroes who were all deserving of the awards.

MIRO were represented by Operations Manager Peter Mackenzie, his wife Morven (MIRO Photographer) and Colin Jamieson, Crew, and his wife Heather.

We were pipped to the post by Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, who were worthy winners.

At 1652hours on Tuesday 21st April 2026, MIRO crew were paged following a report of a person in a dinghy requiring assistance in Findhorn Bay.

Crew and Shore Support responded immediately and MIRO Rescue was launched within 10 minutes and located the dinghy unoccupied at the south side of the bay.

It was thereafter established that the owner of the dinghy had managed to make it to shore.

Two crew were deployed to the dinghy, who sailed it back to Findhorn Marina, whilst at the same time, the casualty and two of his companions were taken from the shore at Culbin Forest and conveyed back to Findhorn Marina, where they were checked over by Burghead Coastguard.

MIRO Rescue returned to dry dock and made ready for service.
