It has been brought to our attention that no-one has been able to book onto our Jangling Jellyfish Schools Out Activity due to an error. This has now been fixed.

So.... there are 12 spaces available to book for 6-12 year olds on:

Jangling Jellyfish, 15th July 2026, 2:00pm-3:00pm

Make and decorate a jellyfish jangle stick while learning all about these FASCINATING creatures!

The SUMMER READING CHALLENGE is now live!

Pop into the library with your children at any time (during opening hours 😁) and get them signed up for this fantastic scheme!

This years theme is "Read to the Beat", but your child can read any books they like, as long as they borrow them from a library. This includes audiobooks and ebooks downloaded on the Borrowbox app.

Aim: Read (or listen to) a minimum of 6 books during the school summer holidays and pop into the library to tell us a little bit about them and collect some themed goodies.

When you have achieved the challenge you will receive a medal and certificate which you can show to your teachers when you return to school!

Fortrose Pre-School were the first to borrow our brand new moth trap! They trapped some real beauties and particularly enjoyed admiring the White Ermine moth before setting them all free again. Later, they popped up to Fortrose Library to make moth headbands and had a lovely time🥰

Summer is here! One of our library assistants has been out enjoying the nice weather with their latest library read and it got us wondering where our borrowers are enjoying their current books.

Have you been enjoying the nice weather with a book by the beach, or perhaps your latest e-book has joined you in the garden? Show us in the comments!

And remember, if you need some last-minute reading material for your sunbathing session, you can access a wide range of online materials with your library card. From magazines and newspapers to e-books and e-audio books, there's something for everyone on BorrowBox!

School's (almost) out for summer!
This year, we have two great new teen clubs at Fortrose from 10th July!

⚡TEEN ZINE CLUB - Wednesdays 2-4pm / age 13-19⚡
Come along and make zines on a weekly theme or the subject of your choice! If you don't know what a zine is then come along and find out!

🪡MAKE DO AND MEND - Fridays 2-4pm / age 13-19🪡
Learn new skills and learn old skills at our first ever sewing club! Customise clothing, try visible mending, get your head around a sewing machine, make a sock monkey and more - this group will primarily be self-led learning with friends but there will be assistance from staff as well as scheduled skills workshops with friends!

While both of these groups start on 10th July, they will become part of our regular programming with Make Do and Mend being extended to the wider Black Isle Community later in the year!
