From the Chief Executive of Pembrokeshire County Council:

As we prepare to showcase the very best of our county and celebrate Pembrokeshire's language, culture and communities on a national stage, we are looking for help make the Pentre’r Garreg Las a success by welcoming and engaging with visitors throughout National Eisteddfod week.

As Pentre'r Garreg Las will be a Welsh-language space, we are particularly keen to hear from Welsh speakers and confident Welsh learners who would be happy to engage with visitors through the medium of Welsh. We have some volunteers but we need a few more to make this a real success.

The role will involve:

Welcoming visitors to the Pentre
Supporting activities and events
Providing information about Pembrokeshire
Showcasing everything that makes our county unique and special

You may wish to support the Pentre for a full day (9.00am–6.00pm), or alternatively volunteer for one of the following half-day shifts:

Morning shift: 8.45am–1.15pm
Afternoon shift: 1.00pm–6.00pm

In recognition of your support, you will receive:

A free admission ticket to the Eisteddfod for the day
An official Pentre'r Garreg Las T-shirt

Once your shift has finished, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the wide range of activities, entertainment and events taking place across the Eisteddfod Maes.

Whether you are able to help for one day or several days, your support would be greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in taking part, please complete the form as soon as possible:

Yours sincerely,

Will Bramble

Chief Executive

Shifft bore: 8.45am–1.15pm
Sifft prynhawn: 1.00pm–6.00pm

I gydnabod eich cefnogaeth, byddwch yn derbyn:

Ar ôl i'ch shifft orffen, cewch gyfle i fwynhau'r ystod eang o weithgareddau, adloniant a digwyddiadau ledled Maes yr Eisteddfod.

P'un a ydych chi'n gallu helpu am un diwrnod neu sawl diwrnod, byddai eich cefnogaeth yn cael ei werthfawrogi'n fawr.

Community Dog Safety & Wellbeing Project

Dear Clerk and Councillors,

Many of you may already be familiar with the John Burns Foundation’s Burns By Your Side programme, which supports children, schools and communities through volunteer reading to dog teams. We are now exploring the next stage of this work through a proposed Community Dog Safety & Wellbeing Pilot, aimed at improving dog safety awareness, supporting children’s wellbeing, and strengthening understanding of safe interactions with dogs across Southwest Wales.

We are preparing an application to the National Lottery Community Fund and are keen to ensure the project reflects local needs. As part of this, we are reaching out to town and community councils to ask whether you feel this is a valuable area of work, and whether there are any local issues, concerns, incidents, or examples of need that we should consider.

We would particularly welcome feedback on:

Dog-related incidents or concerns within your community
Issues affecting children, families, older people, or community safety
Gaps in education or awareness around responsible dog ownership and behaviour
Suggestions for activities, partnerships, or local priorities
Any examples demonstrating a need for preventative community support

We may already be working with a school or organisation in your area through our existing BBYS programme, but our aim is to reach more communities and build a wider network of support.

Alongside this, we will be engaging with children, families, partner organisations and the public throughout July using a range of methods to help shape the project. However, your local knowledge and insight are especially valuable. We would greatly appreciate any comments, examples of need, concerns, ideas, or feedback that could inform the project and strengthen our funding application.

We understand that council time is limited, so even a brief response confirming your support for this type of work in your community would be extremely helpful.

If you would like to be more involved as the project develops, whether through sharing local knowledge, supporting engagement, identifying priorities, or exploring partnership opportunities, please let us know as, we would be delighted to provide further information.

If possible, please respond by 24th July, particularly if this aligns with your council meeting schedule.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
