What a fantastic afternoon we had on the Bread And Roses - SB May barge today. 😁⚓

Our Home Instead volunteers helped some of our more able bodied afternoon tea guests along to jump on board the barge, in St Osyth, for one of their funded Creative Community Cafe sessions.

Our session brought home alone seniors together around the barge's amazing table, with the theme of 'Every recipe tells a story.' We shared stories, recipes, life experiences and stirred memories as well as ingredients, the laughter and chatter flowed whilst we baked together. 👌🙏

Gemma and Vic gave us such a warm welcome, as we heard all about the barge's history, activities on board, and plans for the future. Gemma got everyone making, baking and eating a variety of delicious scones, whilst Vic's history lesson got us all enthused about the story of SB May. 💗

Our guests all went home with very full tummies and hearts, and wonderful memories, here's what some of them said:

What an absolute joy it was this week to see our wonderful colleague Anne, after a long spell of ill-health. 😁

Anne dropped in to see us for lunch and a catch-up. ❤️ As you can see she is looking so well and as fabulous as ever! We shared a few laughs and caught up on everything that’s been happening.

It was so good to have you back with us for a little while, Anne — you are very much missed! 🥰

We love bringing local seniors together at our regular Vintage Afternoon Teas. These social soiree's are not just a great way of helping to reduce social isolation and loneliness but also connecting our community to other support services. 😊👌

This week we came together at Homelands Free Church and were joined by some of Community Voluntary Services Tendring's wonderful Resilience Team. They helped our guests get ready for the colder months by giving out free winter warmer packs, and getting those classed as vulnerable onto the Priority Services Register. This ensures energy suppliers provide extra help to vulnerable energy customers. 🙏

We also had time for a quick music themed quiz. Well done to CVST who scored a whopping 8/10, closely followed by Joyce who certainly knows her music!

We received a lovely call this week from one of our newer clients expressing their gratitude for the wonderful team we've matched to them. 🙏

It seems that we found just the right Care Pros for them in Penny and Guan. This is so important to us, that why we take the time to get to know each individual – their needs, preferences, and personality – and build a care plan that evolves with them, because care is more than a service, it's a relationship.

Today we’re celebrating six wonderful years of Vickie with Home Instead Clacton, Frinton & Walton! 🥳

For six years, Vickie has been providing amazing, person-centred care to our clients – and the lovely thing is, she still absolutely loves her job and the support she gets from her colleagues. 💙

Her clients certainly love her too! As Vic says:

“She’s lovely, she just toddles off and gets my jobs done and we have a laugh too.”

That sums Vickie up perfectly – quietly confident, reliable, caring and always there to make a difference. 🌟

Vickie was presented with her 6-year service pin, thank-you card and long-service gift voucher – so hopefully she can treat herself to something lovely! 🎁

Special delivery for Katharine on her birthday 🎉

Katharine got a surprise visit at the weekend from our Franchise Owner, Jean Allen to wish her many happy returns of the day. 😁

It's such a privilege to support Katharine, she's always smiling and enthusiastic to get out, meet new people and try new things. A regular at our community singalongs and a theatre lover, Katharine was off to Frinton Summer Theatre for her birthday to see 'Half a Sixpence'. She also had a go at archery on a recent holiday, something she hasn't done since she was a young woman. There's no stopping Katharine.👌

Thank you Simply Blue for a wonderfully entertaining afternoon at our monthly Community Singalong at Frinton Community Association at Soken House 👌🥳

We raised the roof singing, dancing and laughing to a festival of tunes, that took us down memory lane. Old and young alike joined in, and came away smiling. Such fun 💃🕺👩‍🦽🎹🪇🎤🪕

Local band Simply Blue will be doing anything but making us blue on Thursday when they lead our monthly Community Singalong at Frinton Community Association at Soken House from 1.30pm to 3pm.

They have a great play list to get us raising our voices and moving our bodies. We will be 'Sailing' on the 'Rivers of Babylon' in a 'Yellow Submarine' trying to wipe off the 'Lipstick on your Collar' and just generally 'Putting on the Style' - and so much more...

Come on, join us, all are welcome - the more the merrier.
