Our candidate for the Glastonbury by-election, Ewan Cameron, and Cllr Leyshon have been out in Glastonbury over the previous few days of the campaign.
Ewan truly understands the great opportunity it would be to represent Glastonbury, and already recognises how lucky he has been to speak to residents on their doorsteps, and he has already been able to pass on some individual concerns to our MP Sarah D**e.
Polling day is tomorrow, please remember to bring identification!
If you live and vote in Glastonbury, you'll soon have a new Somerset Councillor following the sad loss of Nick Cottle this summer.
I've spent quite a lot of time with the Lib Dem candidate, Ewan Cameron, and caught up with him to ask what he had learned from his campaign in Glastonbury. Our conversation is well worth summarising:
Ewan called it a privilege to be able to speak to residents on their doorsteps, that people were so welcoming and that he has already been able to pass on some individual concerns to our MP Sarah D**e.
He also said that he feels he's walked every street, every road and now knows this "amazing place" better and that the experience has made him "love Glastonbury even more".
From our previous conversations you'll know that Ewan understands the specific challenges for the town, and he doesn't shy away from the work needed to improve things for residents, businesses and visitors.
I really hope that I'll be helping him through his first weeks and months as an elected representative of Glastonbury, but you'll know that I fully respect the democratic process and it's up to the electorate to make the decision on representation tomorrow.
Good luck Ewan, and thank you for being such a hardworking and committed candidate.
PS if you are voting, please remember to take your identification.
