Like many others, at FTC we share in the town's sadness following the death of Martin Bax: Frome Festival founder, former town councillor and Mayor of Frome and so much more.

"Martin Bax made an extraordinary contribution to Frome's cultural life, raising our town's profile, encouraging artists and creating opportunities for creativity to thrive, throughout his life and career. Martin also served as both councillor and Mayor at Frome Town Council, serving the community he loved. Our thoughts are with Martin's family and his many friends and we're grateful to benefit from his legacy for years to come."

Peter Wheelhouse, Town Clerk

🌟 Exciting opportunity at the Key Centre!

We're inviting experienced childcare providers to apply to run a new nursery provision, helping meet growing demand for high-quality early years childcare in Frome.

The purpose-built space is ready for a provider with a vision for creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where children can learn, play and thrive.

πŸ“… Expressions of interest close at 5pm on 14 July.

From wildflowers and long grass to ponds and pollinator-friendly planting, even small changes can make a big difference for local wildlife.

Why not register your garden as wildlife-friendly with Somerset Wildlife Trust, or help map biodiversity across town by joining the Frome Community Wildlife Mapping Project on iNaturalist?

Pop down to the town hall until 12 June and again from 23 June to 2 July to experience Frome through the eyes of postcard photographers in our new noticeboard exhibition.

Curated by Lockhart Murdoch, more than 75 postcards capture a moment in time in our town, some dating back more than a century.

Many thanks to Lockahart; drop by between 9.30 and 4.30 daily to take it in!

What happens when a community comes together to face a difficult topic?

Last month, residents gathered at the Cheese and Grain for a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing – a powerful film exploring the climate and nature emergency and what it means for all of us.

The conversations that followed were just as important as the film itself. Guided by local volunteers, people shared reactions, concerns, ideas and, importantly, a sense of hope that action is possible when we work together.

A huge thank you to Frome Canoe Club who recently removed rubbish from the river with support from FTC and Paddle UK. 🚣

The club's unique access to hard-to-reach stretches of riverbank between Westway and Jenson Button Bridge means they can help tackle litter where it's difficult to reach on foot and they'll continue removing any rubbish they find from the water.

A brilliant example of our community working together to care for Frome and its natural spaces. Thank you to everyone involved! πŸ™
