E-scooters, E-bikes - keep it safe, keep it legal. It is not a legal requirement to wear a safety helmet on an e-scooter or e-bike, but it is strongly advised. Please help keep our community safe and be mindful that not everyone can move as fast as you when you are out and about on your scooter or bike!

We've postponed this event due to the ongoing hot, dry and dusty conditions. Please look out for future dates. The PC and residents ask that dog owners who don't pick up after their dogs consider the volunteers who offer to help keep the Beck safe and tidy. Volunteering to clear nettles and overgrowth is one thing, but clearing up after someone else's dog is not acceptable.

The PC has been made aware of fallen branches along the Beck, and you might have read about the problems facing councils in many parts of the country due to Sudden Branch Drop Syndrome - trees dropping large branches without warning, even in calm, dry weather. It's mainly triggered by heatwaves and long dry spells followed by sudden heavy rainfall. The PC asks you to be vigilant when walking along the Beck and to avoid doing so on windy days. Because branches can fall without warning, it's very difficult to eliminate risks entirely, but the PC will be looking at what can be done to balance residents' safety with the environmental benefits of a tree-lined path along the Beck.

The ribbons are taken down after the lovely May Day celebrations, but it will soon come around again, so save the date (3 May 2027) and join us next time. If you enjoyed this year's event, why not get involved and help out next year? The PC wishes to thank the volunteers for completing the safe fitting and removal of the ribbon band - it was bright but cold up the pole today!
