Nominations are now open!

Gainsborough Town Council is inviting nominations for its Citizen of the Year 2026 award.

The award celebrates a resident of the Parish of Gainsborough who has made an outstanding contribution to the town through their voluntary service, dedication and commitment to the local community.

Do you know someone who:
- gives their time to support others;
- volunteers for local groups or organisations;
- works to improve the lives of local residents;
- helps make Gainsborough a better place; or
- regularly goes above and beyond for the benefit of the community?
We want to hear about them!

๐ŸŒณ What an Incredible Summer at Aisby Park! ๐ŸŒณ

What a fantastic few weeks we've had at our Aisby Park Activity Days! ๐ŸŽ‰

Across our four free family events, 280 children came along to enjoy a range of fun, engaging activities, bringing families together and helping local people connect with organisations that provide support within our community.

From sports and games to nature-based crafts, there was something for everyone, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces making the most of the summer holidays. ๐ŸŒžโšฝ๐ŸŽจ

A huge thank you goes to all of our amazing partner agencies who helped make these events such a success:

๐ŸŒŸ A Brand-New ยฃ265,000 Skate Park is Coming to Aisby Walk! ๐ŸŒŸ
Gainsborough Town Council is thrilled to announce that a brand-new ยฃ265,000 skate park will soon be arriving at Aisby Walk, creating an exciting, modern and inclusive space for children, young people and families to enjoy for years to come! ๐Ÿ›นโœจ

This fantastic community project has been made possible thanks to the generous support of FCC Communities Foundation โ€“ a not-for-profit organisation that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund โ€“ together with Section 106 Public Open Space Contributions from Gleeson Homes. ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Following a competitive tender process, Wheelscape Skateparks has been appointed as the Council's approved contractor and will begin construction in October 2026.

On Saturday 1st August the Mayor of Gainsborough Cllr Richard Craig attended the Connexions Family Fun Day at the Levellings. Of the event, Cllr Craig said:
"Really proud, pleased and honoured to have supported Bryony and all the Connexions and PACS Crew yesterday, as Mayor, on the Family Fun Day at Levellings.

There was a fantastic turnout, some great performances from PACS, G Town and the Shedders, and plenty of fun activities and stalls on offer.

There has been some really positive feedback too, so well done to all. All the hard work definitely paid off."

Fire and rescue response review engagement

Over the last year, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has been reviewing its emergency response arrangements to ensure services remain resilient, effective and sustainable.

As part of these proposals Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is conducting engagement to help local communities and stakeholders understand the proposals and provide an opportunity to share their views until 23 August.
