The RAF's Air Cadets is one of the country's premier youth organizations and the world's largest youth air training organization, supported by thousands of dedicated volunteer staff. The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) is a national volunteer youth organization within the Training Group that is part public funded and part self-funded. The organization comprises the Air Training Corps (ATC), spo

nsored by the Royal Air Force, and the Royal Air Force Sections of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). From units spread throughout the country the organization draws its male and female cadet membership from all social and ethnic backgrounds. The mission of the RAFAC is to be a modern, dynamic, sustainable air-minded youth organization of choice that offers fun and challenging opportunities. The ATC was formed in 1941 by Royal Warrant and last amended in Feb 1990; the Air Commodore-in-Chief is HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. The CCF was formed in 1948, its aims are similar to those of the ATC, but units are largely integrated into private schools, with 20% from the state sector. The Corps' aims to:

• promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the RAF.

• provide training that will be useful in the Services and civilian life.

• foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

Looking for something fun, exciting and different for your child?
Come along to our Air Cadet Open Night and find out what we have to offer!

Who can join?

From 12 years old (Year 8) up to 17 years old.
There are lots of exciting activities to get involved in, including:

Today, pauses to remember the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day and to honour the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.

On 6 June 1944, after years of war and uncertainty, more than 156,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel and landed on the beaches of Normandy as part of Operation Overlord. Facing overwhelming danger, they stepped into history, knowing that many would never return home. Alongside them were thousands of sailors, airmen and support personnel, all united in a common cause: the liberation of Europe from tyranny.

The immense operation was directed from Southwick House in Hampshire, where General Dwight D. Eisenhower and his commanders made the momentous decision to launch the invasion. Within those walls, plans were finalised and orders given, but it was the courage of ordinary young men and women who would ultimately determine the course of history.

For many, D-Day was their final sunrise. They left behind families, friends and futures that would never be realised. Their sacrifice was not made for glory or recognition, but for the hope that future generations might live in peace and freedom.

As members of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, we remember not only the scale of the operation, but the individuals behind it. The pilots who flew through enemy fire, the troops who landed on unfamiliar shores, and the countless others who gave everything so that others might live free.

Today, we stand in gratitude for their service and sacrifice. Their bravery changed the world. Their memory endures. Their legacy remains our responsibility to uphold.

🥉 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition Success! 🥉

Congratulations to 10 cadets from who successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition on 30th and 31st May!

Joining forces with 222222 - Brigg Squadron Air Training CorpsSquadron, our cadets spent two days navigating the countryside around South Yorkshire, developing teamwork, resilience and expedition skills whilst carrying everything they needed for the journey. This included their clothing, food, cooking equipment, tents and sleeping bags, making this a true test of preparation, determination and self-reliance.

Events like these would not be possible without your dedication and commitment.

One camping stove.

What could possibly go wrong?

Cadets charged into the challenge full of confidence… which lasted a solid 3 minutes before someone realised they’d forgotten a key utensil, someone else turned the heat up to “volcanic,” and at least one team questioned their entire menu choice halfway through.

The brief: produce a two-course meal.
The reality: controlled chaos with a side of panic.

Even the staff joined in, boldly presenting a “posh” fish finger sandwich on ciabatta with a dill and gherkin reduction… a dish that said, “We’re outdoors… but make it fancy.”

As the clock ticked down, the pressure cranked up.
Pans were flying.
Timers were ignored.
Plating became… interpretive.

And then… judgement.

🥇 FS Kirk and Sgt Bull claimed victory with their “Big Mac” bowl (other burger brands are available). Somehow, they turned mince, salad, and sauce into a winning masterpiece, followed by an Eton Mess that vanished faster than anyone could ask for seconds.

🥈 Team C1, led by Cpl Warters, delivered roasted sausages, vegetables, and sautéed potatoes, finishing with s’mores that were 50% dessert, 50% engineering project.

🥉 Team A1 served up a bacon, cheese, and tomato tortilla, followed by a marshmallow chocolate fondue that required bravery, teamwork… and possibly a napkin or ten.

Against all odds, no cadets or staff were harmed in the making of these dishes.
The only casualties? A few onions, several egos, and any hope of a clean frying pan.

Same time next year… bring snacks. 🍳🔥

teamed up with 204 City of Lincoln Squadron - Air Cadets and 2222 - Brigg Squadron Air Training Corps for an action-packed station visit on 14 April 2026 to RAF Waddington.

First stop: the iconic Red Arrows hangar. With the team gearing up for spring training in Greece, cadets got right into the heart of the action. They climbed into a fully functioning training aircraft, tested out the ejector seat (safely!), and watched an aircraft taxi out and roar off down the runway.

Next up was a trip through time at the Waddington Heritage Centre, where cadets uncovered the station’s impressive history and legacy.

After refuelling with lunch, it was time to meet the linguists of 51 Squadron. These specialists support operations aboard the Boeing RC-135 Rivet Joint, part of the ISTAR air wing. Seeing the Rivet Joint up close was a definite highlight.

To round off the day, cadets headed to the station fire section, where things got hands-on. Hoses were manned, fire engines explored, and high-powered booms put to the test. There was plenty of spray and just enough splash… but thankfully, no one left completely soaked!

We would like to thank all the staff at RAF Waddington that made this visit very entertaining, however we would like to personally thank Kai and the Air Cadet Liason Team for making this visit possible.

Young people and awards, what a great combination!

What an inspiring evening at the Rotary Club of Gainsboroughs Youth in the Community Awards, held at the Hickman Hotel on Wednesday 25th March 🌟, with dinner and great company. And were in attendance!

It was fantastic to celebrate so many young people making a positive contribution in our community, from future sporting stars through to young people making a real difference in their community and schools, with one of our own receiving a citation from club secretary Julian Needham and the award from club President, Sandie Webster. Sgt Olivia Loates, received a well-deserved award for her outstanding work with the RAF Blyton Memorial Group. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to preserving history and supporting others were recognised.

Events like this remind us just how bright the future is when young people step up and lead with purpose. Well done to all the nominees and winners—you should all be incredibly proud 👏

We would like to thank the Rotary Club of Gainsborough for all they do for our community. Your dedication and the work you carry out to support others is beyond reproach - Thank you. We would also like to thank Flt Lt Chapman and Fg Off Chapman for representing our squadron at these prestigious awards.

⚽🏆 **203 Sqn Bring Home TWO Trophies!** 🏆⚽

What a fantastic day for at the Trent Wing 5-a-Side Football Tournament held at RAF Digby today!
