We’re delighted to tell you that our Federation’s upcoming Pick and Plodge has now been formally registered with Sunderland Coastal Team, Durham Wildlife Trust, and the Climate Coalition.

This collaboration places our WI community at the heart of regional conservation efforts, and we’re proud to be taking part in something that supports both local wildlife and national climate action.

We hope this will be a truly successful event and look forward to seeing you all there

We had a great evening welcoming Emily and Giselle from Durham Wildlife Trust, who gave a really interesting talk on Nature in Recovery and practical nature-based solutions. It was a really interesting and informative session. 🌿

They also gave us some great ideas for future Walking Belles destinations - watch this space!🚶‍♀️

A big thank you to everyone who brought and bought plants for our charity plant sale. Your support helped raise valuable charity funds and helped make the evening a real success. 🌱

Find out more about Durham Wildlife Trust here:

It really was an excellent tour!

A truly insightful visit to South Tyneside Crematorium this morning where we were given the opportunity to go behind the scenes and gain a greater understanding of the cremation process.

Many common myths and misconceptions were dispelled, and it really reinforced just how important it is to plan your funeral or at the very least make your wishes known to your loved ones.

A huge thank you to the staff for being so welcoming, informative and open in sharing their knowledge and experience. It was a genuinely valuable and thought-provoking visit.

If you would like to explore these conversations further, details of the local “Be Death Positive and Take Control” Death Café sessions can be found here https://www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/22149/Be-Death-Positive-and-Take-Control

🌱 Charity Plant Sale – We Need You! 🌱

Ahead of our meeting on 12th May, we’ll be holding a charity plant sale from 6:45pm – 7:15pm, and we’d love your support!

If you have any spare plants, shrubs, vegetables, herbs (or anything green and growing!), please bring them along to donate.

All funds raised will go into our charity pot, and members will vote on which local charity receives the donation.

Any leftover plants can either be taken home by the person who brought them or donated to a local community garden 🪴🎍

Thank you for helping us make a difference!
