A special thanks to the Roger Hibbert Locomotive Collection CIO for the loan of 68067 and allowing us to recreate long lost 68029, also to all of the groups who supported us this weekend with displays, to everyone who visited us... and finally to all of our volunteers, who without them we simply couldn't put on this fantastic showcase of industrial railway heritage!

Today we welcomed Ken Hemmings onto the footplate of 68029. Ken was a fireman on the Tanfield Branch around the 1960s. His railway life started as a mail boy and then became a fireman based at Greenesfield, including firing J94s on the branch and J72s on Dunston staiths. He moved to Didcot where he fired Great Western locos to advance his career when the Tanfield Branch closed in 1962.

It was fantastic to hear Ken's fascinating stories, and we look forward to recording many more! It was also humbling to see that he instantly pulled out his rag when he stepped aboard.
