Hello Spring! Exploring, creating and investigating.

We then began our new Spring topic, and the children have enjoyed a range of seasonal activities. We made bright yellow spring playdough and used string, corks and green pipe cleaners to create spring flowers, thinking carefully about the different parts of a plant such as roots, bulbs, stalks, leaves and petals. The children also started making a special Mother’s Day gift, and we’ll be able to share more about that next week.

World Book Day!

Another wonderful World Book Day was had by all at Windy Nook Primary!

We’ve had live, interactive lessons, virtual author visits, book-themed crafting and artwork, story time, book talk and so much more! One particular highlight was how we “dressed up” – because, this year, we dressed our doors and reading areas! Making an inviting, inspiring space for reading is one of the aims of National Year of Reading 2026; Windy Nook’s children took ownership of this today and revamped their classrooms in super, book-themed decoration!

Easter around the world

In RE, children in years 5 and 6 have begun looking at how Easter looks around the world in different Christian countries. They worked in groups to research different places and their customs before making fact files about each and plotting them on a map.

Notes from Norway

An exciting opportunity has presented itself to the Year 6s in Oaks and they have received pen pal letters from 15 Year 6 children in Norway. Their first letters have introduced themselves and some of their interests, and now the children in Oaks are preparing their responses. We are so excited to build a relationship with some new friends in Europe and help them to develop their English skills!

A mysterious landing in the KS1 Playground!

Exciting news from Windy Nook Primary School!
Early this morning, it appeared that a mysterious spaceship had landed right in the KS1 playground. Before anyone could take a closer look, the Space Accident Investigation Authority arrived and carefully removed the evidence for further examination. They are now working hard to discover what might have happened.
