I have 30 years experience in local politics. I was elected as a Councillor for Northumberland Ward (Wallsend) on North Tyneside Council at age 21(Youngest in the UK at that time!)
with the largest majority of my party at that time. I held senior positions on the Council. I was Chair of a number of Council Committees carrying out quasi-judicial functions and various public roles on policing & tran

sport/Environment bodies. I was the only opposition member to be given such honour at that time. I am a former Gateshead Labour Party senior Executive member & Labour Group Observer. My former roles included: Campaigns Coordinator, Equalities officer and branch chair (Bridges). Labour Group Member. I have campaigned in every election, coordinated many campaigns and was founder & President of Northumbria Labour Students. I am tired of the people being constanly let down by the main parties. Failed policies on economy and border security. Our country is at breaking point!!! Our citizens fed up being second best in their own Country. Enough is enough!! I have been betrayed personally by Labour and the Country has also been betrayed by them with a "treasonous" Government. The people never voted for such outrage! I know how to organise & motivate volunteers. I can build an effective team and lead us to victory. I know how to structure an organisation to be effective and how to communicate within it. I know what roles are needed and what qualities are needed to effectively build an army of volunteers to fight & win in a ward/constituency. Sharing the right skills amongst a small group is effective and knowing how to target them, important. I know the tools that work in our communities through tried & tested methods and what content works locally and nationally and recognise trends. I know how to use social media as a tool for change. How to use various platforms to not only organise a team but how to reach the public. I know my community well and can speak publically at meetings or large crowds. Most of all I think on my feet and can answer questions confidently and professionally. Having been at the top of the Labour Party in Gateshead I know their strategy, their target wards and every one of the senior members personally. I know who and what they value and what they stand to lose. ReformUK says what most citizens think! They are not afraid to speak out on the issues that effect its citizens and neither am I. I want to see a ReformUK Government but I also want to see ReformUK win more councils. I believe we can win Gateshead Council next year and I pledge myself to undertake that task. I will satnd up and fight for our community of Gateshead. Whatever it takes to restore pride in our streets and communities. I am ready to help the ReformUK movement in the wider Gateshead area to win seats locally and build a strong foundation for success at the General Election. I want Britain proud and British, tolerant and accepting of other cultures as we have always been but OUR culture. I want our streets, women and children safe! I want a PM and Government who puts OUR citizens ahead of those enetring illegally and restore common sense to the people! I want a Council run by those who put our communities first, not themselves. People & Party before personalities! I want responsible spending and our communities thriving again. 2026 is an all-out election in Gateshead and WE WILL WIN THIS!!! ITS TIME FOR REAL CHANGE!!! WHOS WITH US ???????

🩵CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW LEADER OF GATESHEAD COUNCIL CLLR NICK ALLAN🩵

Reform UK Cllr Nick Allan was officially elected as the new Leader of Gateshead Council at today’s AGM.

He also announced his Deputy & New Cabinet Members at the meeting.

Other business included the appointment of Committee Chairs/Deputies (in the link) as well as outside bodies.

This was democracy in action. The people voted for change, our Councillors stood up for the role and now it’s time to get down to business.

🏦New Mayor, deputy mayor and leader appointed at Gateshead Council 🏦

At Gateshead Council’s annual general meeting, members elected a new Mayor, deputy mayor and leader.

The appointments are:

Mayor: Councillor Andrea Graham

Deputy mayor: Councillor Michelle Merrin

Leader: Councillor Nick Allan

THE HIGH FELL WARD COUNCIL BY-ELECTION

STATEMENT BY THE LEADER OF THE REFORM GROUP ON GATESHEAD COUNCIL

As you are aware, a by-election for the vacancy of councillor for the High Fell ward on Gateshead Council will be held on 9th July.

The vacancy has arisen because the incumbent, Danielle Cavanagh, has chosen to develop a very recent opportunity to significantly expand her business interests. Whilst she is saddened that this means she will not be able to serve her ward residents as she wished to do, we understand her motivation in seeking to secure the future for herself and her family. In this, she has our full support.

This mirrors a situation experienced by the Liberal Democrats in the Whickham North ward around 18 months ago, when a councillor who was elected in local elections of May 2024, resigned and there followed a by-election a couple of months later.

Opposition parties have accused Reform of having ‘wasted’ council taxpayers’ money by variously stating that the by-election will cost amounts from £16,000 to £25,000. Being a fair-minded party, this is not an allegation we chose to make against the Whickham Liberals.

In fact, the cost of the by-election is likely to be around £19,000. HOWEVER, unlike our opponents, the Reform Group on Gateshead Council recognise the inconvenience caused to residents of High Fell and the Council, despite the genuine reason for the vacancy. We have therefore decided that we will recompense the council in full, for the cost of the election.

Our contribution to the costs of the poll will come from:

1. One of our Cabinet members has volunteered to forgo their Special Responsibility Allowance, thereby matching the full cost of the election and specifically for this purpose alone.

2. We have decided to constrain the numbers of Cabinet positions and cut back by 1 full role. Again, this will match the cost of the election.

In taking the above actions, we will save the Council approximately £40,000, exceeding the election cost by £21,000.

Our decision underscores our respect for the voters of High Fell and Gateshead Borough and we assure them all that we continue to serve them in good faith and with maximum effort and dedication.

Local Councillors are elected by the community to champion the interests of people in the Borough and to decide how the Council should carry out its various activities. They represent residents living within the ward in which they have been elected and usually serve a four year term..

Thank you to everybody who voted Reform yesterday!

Gateshead Council is now under Reform control because you came out and voted for change!

This next few weeks will be extremely busy for our councillors while the Group is set up so please be patient during the process.

Also can we ask not to rise to the comments or scaremongering on social media by the opposition partys.

We want to thank everyone who came out in support over the past year and helped make this historic victory possible.
