Yes, the Osmond family did know sign language

Here's why:

2 of the oldest Osmond brothers were deaf

* Virl Osmond and Tom Osmond were both born with severe hearing loss.

* * The family grew up signing at home to communicate with them.

Virl Osmond and Tom Osmond were both born with severe hearing loss. The family grew up signing at home to communicate with them.

The family used it on stage + in life:

1. Their career started because of it - The younger brothers Donny, Jimmy, Merrill, Wayne, Alan would sing for Virl and Tom at church and local events.People saw the family harmonizing and signing together, and that's how they got discovered.

2. Marie Osmond signs fluently - She's talked about growing up signing and still uses it. She's done PSAs in ASL and performed songs in sign language.

3. Donny Osmond knows ASL too - He's signed on TV and in performances. The whole family learned young because Virl and Tom were part of everything.

4. They performed with the National Theater of the Deaf in the 70s and did songs in ASL during their TV show.

The first of two brand new episodes of Peppa Pig is now available to watch!

Head over to Milkeshake! and you’ll see ‘Hearing Test’, a new episode of Peppa Pig where George Pig is revealed to have moderate hearing loss in one ear and is fitted with his first hearing aid.

We’re proud to have worked with Hasbro on the development of this storyline, which we know will have such a significant impact for deaf children across the country and beyond.

If you watch this episode and are concerned about your child’s hearing, get in touch with our Helpline where our expert advisors can support you. https://go.ndcs.org.uk/georgepigelsifb
