Hi Everyone,

A few things to tell you about all of which are in the future ( so pay attention at the back!)

First up . Monday the 31st August is a bank holiday for both the Post Office and the Banking Hub. So remember to top up your gas and electricity and most importantly make sure you’ve got enough cash for the weekend.
The Banking Hub is closed on Saturday however the Post Office is open until 1pm on that day.
I’ll try to remind you towards the weekend about the Monday closure.

Well done to all of you who let the Bank know that you were unhappy about stopping the payment of cheques into your accounts over the PO and the Hub counters.
The Bank has listened to you and has decided to restore this service from 1st September when you will be able to lodge your cheques again.
Please don’t try to pay them in before this date as we will be unable to process them.

As you will see from the notice below the Banking Hub is hosting a fraud awareness day. It is not until mid September however early notification will give you time to think about any questions you might want the answers to.
The previous fraud awareness was very successful so don’t be shy and come along and talk to the Banking officials Police officers and members of the local authority fraud prevention advice team.

So I had a wee visit to the eye clinic to get a new set of peepers(cataracts) and for the first time in 200 years of marriage Mrs .W. thought I deserved breakfast in bed! Bo the Post Office Dug thought he would get in on the act!

Hi Everyone,

Please note that Girvan Post Office and
Girvan Banking Hub will be OPEN on
Monday 3rd August.
The holiday we will be taking is at the end
of the month (31st).
Thanks to you all for your continuing support for both businesses. The Hub is going from strength to strength and the Post Office has been showing increased footfall over the past years which shows that our community recognises the need for both .

I leave you with a picture of Bo the Post Office Dug who doesn’t care when the holidays are as long as the Bonio van keeps delivering!

He is looking for extras as he celebrates his twelve years on the planet next week. So in doggy years I.e. 7 years to a humans 1 he is marginally older than the main Bonio provider!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your good wishes to Janet as she retired from Girvan Post Office and Girvan Banking Hub. We had 21,100 views on our page which is a new record for us.
We had her farewell dinner on Saturday night at Austin’s restaurant and you can see the team lineup in the photo below ( with a few family additions) .
You have been requested not to look too closely at Liz’s face as apparently she took a liking to the path to her house and decided to give it a farewell kiss on her way to work. The said path was unimpressed with the familiarity and left her with cuts and bruises and about four black eyes. A wee coating of Pollyfilla helped to cover up the damage . Her Hubby will be happy to hear from any path repair experts!

So the Post Office on the High St in Ayr (TG JONES) closed down on Saturday 11th. July
Which is not so good for Ayr High St and the town in general. From the Girvan point of view it was the only place that could process your driving license and passport on the spot.
So remember that your Post Offices need your support wherever you are and we in Girvan are grateful to you for helping to keep us going.

Hi Everyone,

Well Janet finished with us at Girvan Post Office and Banking Hub her last day of service was
Wednesday 24th. June.
Thanks to all of you who sent or delivered cards and presents to her in recognition of her 24 years at Girvan Po.

We had a wee celebration on Wednesday at closing time (photo below) and her official leaving dinner is on Saturday 11 July .
Thanks to you all for your continued support of the Post Office and Banking Hub which are going from strength to strength and I am pleased that ,in conversations I have had with our customers, that there is a widespread recognition of the need to keep cash available in our community.

Hi Everyone,

Well mega news this week !

We have to announce that Janet is retiring from Girvan Post Office and her last day of service will be Wednesday 24th of June .
She has been with us for 24 years and as well as being a star on our counter she has also been our customers agony aunt and general advisor on affairs of the heart and domestic incidents.
Her advice may not have been the most advisable ( just stab the B,for instance ). however she was always happy to lend advice.
We will also lose our morning time doorman and shelf tidier her husband Billy they are aiming to spend “ quality time together “.

(She’ll probably start back next week!)

Hi Everyone,

So it only 4.12 in the morning.why am I not sleeping? Because I forgot to tell you important news as I fell asleep without letting you know about the non- holiday today. A consequence of watching football in the middle of Sat/ Sunday night.

Girvan Post Office and Girvan Banking Hub will be open for business as usual today Monday 15th. June . So there ,I’ve let you know and now I can go back to sleep.

As usual may we remind you to top up your gas and leccy and get some cash for the holiday weekend. The Post Office will be open on Saturday until 1pm.

Hi Everyone,
Quick note tonight..

We had a bit of a breakdown mid morning on Saturday when there was a partial failure of the power supply and we lost our computers for the rest of the day.
Everything is fixed now and we will be open as usual on Monday.
Our apologies to any of our customers who were affected.

I’ll give you holiday info regarding the final May holiday tomorrow.
In the meantime here is Bo trying out the new cushions. (He’s going to be in trouble!)
