Repair works to Girvan Harbour South Pier Quay scheduled to start Wednesday 21 January at 8.00am.

⚠️ All vessels entering exiting and manoeuvering within the harbour are to call the harbour on VHF CH12 beforehand.

⚠️ The speed limit within the harbour has been reduced to 2 Knots or slowest possible speed.

⚠️ During the works a dive flag will be flown on the work barge to indicate when I diver is in the water. When the dive flag is up all vessels are to pass at the safest maximum distance.

2026 RECRUITMENT- COME JOIN OUR TEAM - AREA 16 SCOTLAND

Do you have what it takes to search, to rescue and to save?

HM Coastguard is looking to recruit Coastguard Rescue Officers for the following teams:
Ayr,
Girvan,
Ballantrae,
Stranraer,
Portpatrick,
Drummore,
Isle of Whithorn,
Portling,
Kirkcudbright,
Annan.

As a Coastguard Rescue Officer you will be trained and equipped to carry out search and rescue operations along our coastline – at any time during the day or night and in all weathers.

Coastguard Rescue Officers are volunteers trained in missing persons search, water rescue, rope rescue, helicopter operations and much more.

No experience is necessary as full training will be given. All that we ask is that you hold a full UK drivers licence and be in good health. Applicants must also live/work within 20 minutes of the Coastguard team you are applying for.

The training will run from the following dates. 10th to 13th April and 8th to 11th May.

2025 HARBOUR GALA WEEKEND

It's nearly time, we can confirm there has been some jiggery pokery going on in the background these last few months, while we were busy organising usual things for the weekend of 2nd & 3rd August

On the Saturday for one day only Girvan RNLI will be taking over Girvan Prom parkrun, Fancy dress is very much encouraged, all donations on the day will go to Girvan Lifeboat, run with some of our crew and even Stormy Stan, Girvan lifeboat will provide a prize for the best dressed under 16 and adult on the day, usual parkrun arrangements apply, parkrun starts at 9:30am and you can register here if you wish to take part https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 GIRVAN FLAG unveiling ceremony will also be taking place on Saturday Morning in which we will be involved 11:00am at harbour and then 11:15am at Stumpy

Also on Saturday 2nd August we will have our Lifeboat Open day from 12-4pm where you can meet the crew, look around our lifeboat station and take a tour of our Shannon Class Lifeboat, we'll have our pop up shop and water safety officer and stand and the funfair rides may well be in place and open before the gala on Sunday.

Sunday the 3rd from 12-4pm is our RNLI Harbour gala, with all the usual fun to be had, with stalls, funfair, lifeboat demo, the ever popular raft race, live music, kids entertainment, Emergency Services, Cars boot and much more you won't want to miss it.

❌RED WEATHER WARNING❌

The Met Office has upgraded the weather warnings associated with Storm Éowyn from Amber to Red for wind.

The red warning for wind comes into effect 10:00 Friday 24th of January and lasts until 17:00 Friday 24th of January.

A red weather warning means dangerous weather is expected and, Storm Éowyn is to bring strong winds reaching up to 80-100 mph in some coastal locations.

Please don’t take risks and avoid coastal areas where possible.

In a coastal emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
