Thinking about what comes after school? 🎓

Self-Directed Support Forum East Renfrewshire is offering 'Ready for Tomorrow' a transition course for young people with additional support needs who are preparing to move on from school.

The course provides information, practical resources and useful connections to help make the transition feel clearer, more manageable and less intimidating. đź’¬

Our last one was successful so we are offering the course again!

Are you a parent or guardian of a young person with additional support needs and beginning to think about your transition out of school, wondering what is next and starting the transition into adult social care services.

Our transitions course aims to provide the information, resources and connections to make this journey less intimidating.

Are you part of the Craigheads community? Come along to free community drop-in event and find out more about the Connecting Craigheads pilot project. đź’¬

Where: St Andrew’s Church community hall, Barrhead
When: Saturday 19 September, 12 -3pm

There’ll be free activities for children and refreshments, as well as the opportunity to meet the community police and a range of local service organisations.

The online survey has now closed and the first phase of community engagement has been completed. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views and ideas. We are now reviewing all of the feedback received to identify the key themes, priorities

Support East Renfrewshire Council is providing to parents

As the schools are now back and the kids have some routine back in their lives, some parents might be in a better place to get some support.

East Renfrewshire Council have a variety of dedicated support on offer for priority parents (Lone parents, families with disabilities, minority ethnic families, 3+ children, child under 1 and parents under 25).

Their advisers and partners can support with wellbeing, financial, ESOL, training grants, signposting opportunities, paid placements, transport costs and so much more.

We are looking for a Community Engagement Lead to support community-led regeneration in Craigheads, Barrhead, as part of East Renfrewshire Council’s A Place to Grow vision.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about community development, engagement and making sure local voices help shape the future of their area.

The role includes:
• Building relationships with residents, community groups and local organisations
• Leading community engagement, workshops and co-design activities
• Supporting communities to identify local priorities and opportunities
• Connecting communities with Council and third-sector partners
• Capturing and sharing community feedback and impact

📍 Based at: Community Wellbeing & Enterprise Hub, Rouken Glen
⏰ Hours: 35 hours per week, worked flexibly by agreement across 6 days, including evenings and weekends

Closing date: 5pm, Thursday 10 September 2026
