'Our Children Deserve Better'- UK Bans Social Media for Under-16s

The UK government has announced a ban on social media access for children under 16, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer citing concerns about addiction, mental health, online safety, and excessive screen time.

The policy is expected to be implemented in Spring 2027 and will affect major platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, X, and YouTube.

Starmer said the government is prepared to face opposition from major technology companies, arguing that children's wellbeing must take priority.

This is not the Nigeria our parents dreamed of.
This is not the Nigeria our heroes fought for.

Today, we raise our voices for the market woman.
We raise our voices for the struggling student.
We raise our voices for the unemployed graduate.
We raise our voices for every Nigerian whose tears have gone unnoticed.

Because behind every statistic is a human being.
Behind every hardship is a family.
Behind every cry is a story.

And one day, history will remember those who refused to remain silent while millions suffered.

💔 For the hungry.
💔 For the forgotten.
💔 For the future.

Today Britain should know that one Nigeria can't remain one country anymore.
