The Society is proud to promote our member’s flocks from across the UK on our social media platforms, as part of this year's Breeder Advertisement Package.

This week we are showcasing the Wye Valley flock in Tibberton, Gloucestershire. Phyl Hale farms alongside her husband and young family, and she initially chose the Lleyn breed because she wanted a ewe that would be able to rear two lambs easily on her own. Renowned for being easy to keep and allowing them to keep a closed flock with a high health status, the flock was founded in 1997 after purchasing ewe lambs in the Society Ross-on-Wye sale. Phyl has not looked back since her initial purchase and actively supports many of the Society autumn sales with MV Accredited females as well as supporting the Midlands Club activities.

🤔 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗟𝗹𝗲𝘆𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀?

Over 1000 rams have been inspected across the UK and the Republic of Ireland this summer with 851 passed and tagged with a Society green tag, visibly noting their registration status. The rigorous inspection means that buyers of all registered Lleyn rams (shearling and older) can have a high degree of confidence at the time of purchase and can expect them to sire quality stock.

💭 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗟𝗹𝗲𝘆𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸?
🔸Lleyn rams are widely used for crossing on other breeds, to increase prolificacy of the resultant breeding ewes and to improve carcase quality. Lleyn rams have also been successfully used for the same reasons on commercial crossbreds with too-high terminal content.
🔸The Lleyn ram will produce a milky ewe with excellent mothering ability and can be crossed onto any upland or lowland breed.
🔸Ensuring your flock’s high health status is retained, the majority of the Society’s members Lleyn sheep are MV Acc, EAE Acc or Scrapie Monitored.

We are ready and set up for tomorrow’s NSA Sheep Event 2026. Make sure you pop along and visit our stand to have a go at our competition! We also have a fantastic show of Lleyn sheep kindly donated by our Midland Lleyn Sheep Breeders Club members.

It's that time of year again!! Shearling rams for sale. All registered pedigree and passed inspection. Mv accredited. Selected from ewes with excellent mothering ability, udder confirmation and rearing history. Excellent mouths and feet. Sires are Signet recorded. Not been pushed.
