🚧 M5 J11-12 Weekend Closure 🚧

📅 Friday 16 October 11pm to Monday 19 October 6am

➡️ We'll be closing the M5 near Gloucester J11-12 (including junction 11a) in both directions. This is for the safe demolition of two footbridges that span the motorway. Both were closed to the public in March 2026.

To create a safe works compound, the J11a northbound exit slip road will be closed 24/7 for one week prior to the demolition works, and 1 week after demolition.

⚠️ If you're travelling between the Midlands and South Wales this weekend, consider diverting via the M50.

🚧 IMPORTANT CLOSURE INFORMATION 🚧

⚠️ Reminder: M5 J11a northbound exit slip road closes this Sunday night.

🚧 The M5 junction 11a northbound exit slip road will be closed 24/7 from 11pm on Sunday 11 October for approximately two weeks.

👷‍♀️ The closure is needed to create a safe works compound to store the large machinery required for the demolition of two footbridges over the M5 later this month.

🚗 Drivers wishing to leave the M5 northbound at junction 11a should plan ahead and follow the signed diversion route. Please follow diversion signs and not sat navs.

👀 Looking ahead, the M5 will be closed in both directions between junctions 11 and 12 (including J11a) from 11pm Friday 16 October until 6am Monday 19 October to allow the footbridge demolition to take place safely.
