Big Local is an exciting opportunity for residents in 150 areas (Podsmead in Phase 2) around England to use at least £1m to make a massive and lasting positive difference to their communities. It’s about bringing together all the local talent, ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live. Big Local is being run by

Local Trust, which is working with £200m from the Big Lottery Fund and a range of partners providing expert advice and support for residents. The four programme outcomes for Big Local are:
Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them. People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future. The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises. People will feel that their area is an even better place to live. It’s NOT about your local authority, the government or a national organisation telling you what to do. It’s NOT about individual groups fixing their favourite problem without talking to a wide range of different people who live and work in the community. It’s NOT about short-term thinking – you’ve got 10 years or more to plan and deliver the best options for your area. Contact Les jevins [email protected]

After 10 years and over 40 community projects, the Podsmead Big Local project is coming to an end, but we'd love you to join us to celebrate what we've achieved together this summer!

We'll be at the Podsmead fun day on Thursday 31st July on the green at Scott Avenue, so come and see us and grab a celebratory cupcake!

It's open! A momentous day as a project initiated by local residents and the Podsmead Big Local almost 10 years ago comes to life and welcomes its first members from our neighbourhood.

The hub will be run in partnership with Freedom Leisure. Thank you to Alex McIntyre for Gloucester, and representatives from Gloucester City Council and our Podsmead-based building contractor E.G. Carter for joining us this morning as we officially opened the doors.

We can't wait to have a whole day with the fantastic Play Gloucestershire on Thursday, over on the Scott Avenue Green between 10am-4pm. We're keeping our fingers crossed for the weather, but Play Gloucestershire will be there rain or shine!

Happy new year and hello January! We know this month can feel a bit of a challenge after the fun of December but don't worry, we've still got lots on for you. Join us for a coffee morning, a Knit and Natter, or for a Podsfeed lunch or brunch. There's yoga to get our minds and bodies in a good place, or money advice from GL Communities Gloucester if you need it. We hope to see you soon.
