A tale of two VERY different morning walks with Bessie Ellen as the sunshine that we departed Mallaig harbour in has turned to strong winds and mizzle. Ah well, that’s what wet weather gear is for, right?!

Back on Bessie Ellen!

☀️What a fabulous start to our latest 10 day trip aboard 122 year old beauty Bessie Ellen. Our goal is to make it to St Kilda, a rugged archipelago 50 miles west of the Outer Hebrides. Being so far out in the Atlantic, it’s notoriously difficult to get there, with rough seas or unfavourable wind often making the trip by boat impossible. So, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a good weather window 🤞🏻

As for now, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day to set sail from Mallaig, filled with sunshine, cake, dolphins playing at the bow, and a sunset arrival at Vatersay beach (one of our all time favourite places!) ⚓️
