Carers Week is a reminder that while caring for someone you love can be rewarding, it can also be exhausting.

At Crossroads Care Gloucestershire, we provide respite support for unpaid carers, giving you the time and space to rest, recharge, and take care of yourself - while knowing your loved one is in safe hands.

💙 Because you matter too.
💙 Because breaks aren’t a luxury - they’re essential.

It was great to be part of a roundtable event, hosted by Cameron Thomas MP to mark national Carers Week this week, highlighting the amazing contribution of unpaid carers across Gloucestershire. Thank you for the opportunity to raise awareness on carers behalf.

This morning I held a virtual roundtable with the Gloucestershire care sector, for National Carers Week.

The contributions of carers to our communities all too often go unsung. They also face a range of challenges, including a lack of respite, Labour's NIC hike, funding, and too often abuse and discrimination.

Thank you to everybody who attended and contributed, and thank you to paid and unpaid carers across the country.

Our goal is to help families carry on caring, while making sure they’re not doing it alone.

We are privileged to support people through some of life’s most difficult and tender moments, and to stand alongside families for many years - offering consistency, compassion, and care they can rely on.

💙 We’re here when you need us.

Carers Week: Are you an unpaid carer? 💙

Many people don’t realise they’re carers - they simply see themselves as helping a partner, parent, friend, or family member day to day.

Caring can affect your wellbeing, work, finances, and time for yourself - which is why recognising your role is so important. Support is available, and you don’t have to manage everything alone.

At Crossroads Care Gloucestershire, we support unpaid carers with practical help, advice, and opportunities to take a break from caring responsibilities.

Today we say a heartfelt farewell to a truly valued member of the Crossroads Care family. After an incredible 28 years of dedicated service, Jane Cox is leaving us.
Throughout nearly three decades she has made a positive difference to the carers and families we support. We are incredibly grateful for the care, kindness and compassion Jane has shown over the years.
On behalf of Crossroads Care, we would like to thank Jane for 28 years of remarkable service and wish her every happiness in her next chapter.
Thank you Jane

💙 Carers Week is here 💙

Carers Week is a national campaign dedicated to recognising, supporting, and celebrating carers across the UK - the family members and friends who help look after loved ones every day.

Whether you’re a carer yourself, know someone who is, or simply want to show support, there are lots of ways to get involved during the week - from sharing stories and attending local events to starting conversations about the realities of caring.

At Crossroads Care Gloucestershire, we’re proud to support carers all year round and help ensure they feel seen, valued, and supported.

Caring for a loved one while balancing everyday life can feel overwhelming at times - and no one should have to do it alone.

Kate cared for both her mum and dad for over 20 years while continuing to work, and shared how having support from Crossroads Care helped ease some of the pressure.

At Crossroads Care Gloucestershire, we’re here to support carers and families with flexible Care at Home services tailored to individual needs.

Longer days and changing routines can affect both carers and those they support. Having flexible care in place can provide reassurance, routine, and a little extra breathing room during the summer months.

At Crossroads Care Gloucestershire, our flexible Care at Home service is designed around individual needs - whether that’s companionship, help while family are away on holiday, support with outings, personal care, or simply providing reassurance during the warmer months.

If you'd like to explore care at home support in Gloucestershire, our team would be happy to talk through the options with you.

You might not call yourself a carer but you may be one.

If you regularly support someone with tasks like personal care, appointments, medication or simply being there day-to-day, you may be an unpaid carer.

Many people don’t realise they are carers, which can mean missing out on support that could make a real difference.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone and support is available.

With Carers Week approaching, it’s a timely reminder that support is available whether for yourself or someone you know.

You can learn more via the Carers Week website, or explore how Crossroads Care Gloucestershire supports carers locally through our services.

Caring for someone you love shouldn’t mean doing it alone.

As Caring Matters Week comes to a close, this is a reminder that respite, rest and support matter too.
