You've told us about your concerns around anti-social behaviour in parts of Gloucester city centre - and action is being taken.

A big thank you to Gloucestershire Constabulary's Neighbourhood Policing Team for their recent great work around Station Road and the Transport Hub. It's included dispersal orders, extra patrols, targeted operations and arrests linked to suspected criminal activity.

Officers have also taken action against the illegal use of e-scooters and e-bikes in the city centre this month, seizing them and making the streets safer.

This work sits alongside ongoing efforts by Gloucester City Council and partner organisations. Every day, teams are tackling anti-social behaviour through enforcement, outreach work, support services and CCTV monitoring. The aim is simple: to make Gloucester a city centre where people feel safe and welcome.

Let's be honest. Anti-social behaviour isn't a challenge unique to Gloucester. You’ll see precisely the same things in cities and large towns across the country.

What matters is whether action is taken when problems arise.

There's still more to do. But it's also important to keep things in perspective.

Every week, thousands of people come into Gloucester city centre to shop, socialise, study, attend events, visit local businesses and enjoy everything the city has to offer without experiencing any problems.

By working together, we can continue making Gloucester a city that people are proud to call home.

We’re thrilled to partner with Gloucester BID to bring this nostalgic day out back to the city.

Wildfires for views and likes? Absolutely not.

There are deeply concerning reports from across the country that some fires are being started deliberately, with suggestions they are linked to a social media trend encouraging people to create the biggest blaze.

Let’s be clear:
- Putting lives at risk is not entertainment.
- Destroying wildlife is not a prank.
- Endangering homes is not harmless fun.

Every fire has consequences. Firefighters, residents, wildlife and the environment all pay the price.

If you see anything suspicious, put your safety first and report it to the police.

You may have noticed homeless tents were removed from Gloucester Park recently.

Our outreach teams work closely with partners every day to build trust with people experiencing homelessness. Before the removal of the tents, support, advice and accommodation options were made available to those staying in Gloucester Park.

While these offers did not result in engagement at that time, we recognise that experiences of trauma, distrust of services, mental ill health, substance use and other factors can influence an individual's readiness to accept support.

We’ve been in direct contact with residents regarding concerns of anti-social behaviour and in response, took joint enforcement action with the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing team to remove the encampment last Friday.

We’ll continue to work together to monitor the situation and assess whether any further action is needed.

Supporting vulnerable people remains a priority, and we’re committed to ensuring Gloucester's parks and public spaces are safe and welcoming for all.

🎨 Free community arts and crafts at Eastgate Indoor Market this Saturday.

Art Shape’s Who Cares? We Do! project will be at Eastgate Indoor Market on Saturday 22 August, with a free creative drop-in for all ages.

📅 Saturday 22 August

📍 Eastgate Indoor Market, Gloucester, GL1 1PL

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The project continues with a Community Art Exhibition from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 August, 11am–2pm, featuring work created by local community groups and celebrating acts of kindness across Gloucester.

Visitors can also browse Eastgate Indoor Market and support its independent traders.

Happy 1st Anniversary to Charlie’s Cafe!

For the past year, Charlie’s Cafe has been serving more than great coffee. They've been creating a welcoming space where people living with cancer can connect with others who truly understand their journey.

Every purchase helps support Charlie’s charity, founded by Jo Sutherland following her breast cancer diagnosis over 20 years ago. Through the charity, cancer patients can access free holistic therapies designed to support their wellbeing.

Mayor Adrian Graham was among those wishing a warm 1st birthday to this incredible community café recently. Why not pop in and say hello to the team at Charlie’s Cafe too – find them in Ley Court, Barnett Way, Barnwood.

No-one can outshout Town Crier Alan when it comes to Gloucester Day!

Join him in Gloucester City Centre on Saturday 5 Sep, 10am-4pm, for a free day of music, food, entertainment and community spirit as we celebrate Gloucester's rich history and civic pride.

Gloucester Day commemorates the lifting of the historic Siege of Gloucester in 1643, when the city successfully resisted Royalist forces during the English Civil War.

The city's Gate Streets will come alive with:
- Historical re-enactments
- Live period music
- Children's crafts and activities
- Colourful parades, including the ever-popular Mock Mayor of Barton Parade

The celebrations begin at The Folk of Gloucester on Westgate Street, before parades unfold across the city centre.

Come along and be part of this much-loved Gloucester tradition.

Remember the HUGE illegal waste site we started clearing last month on private land behind St Oswalds retail park?

Good news – the Environment Agency have obtained a Restriction Order which makes it a criminal offence for anyone to enter and dump waste here.

The court order follows the installation of 84 concrete blocks to also prevent further waste from being illegally dumped.

We’re continuing to work together with partners to monitor the site, which we became aware of early in 2026, to identify offenders and take the next steps.
