On 12 August, a partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. Ordinary sunglasses - no matter how dark - allow harmful solar radiation to reach the retina and should not be used to view an eclipse.

If you want to use eclipse glasses make sure they are genuine with specially designed filters that meet the international safety standard.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT - Fake Phone Calls⚠️
We have had a number of reports of scam phone calls today. Once answered, these calls have automated voices claiming to be from the 'Bank Security Department'. The 'voice' requests that money is moved due to 'security reasons' or asks that the call recipient accepts money into their account.
This is not afiliated with any bank. Banks will NEVER ask you to move, pay, or receive money.
If you receive a call like this - hang up!
If you have sent money or personal information, contact your bank and report it to Report Fraud.

You’ll need to take action if you:

👉 manufacture va**ng products
👉 store duty-suspended va**ng products
👉 act as a UK representative to buy duty stamps for an overseas manufacturer

⚠️ You may also need to take action after 1 October 2026 if you import va**ng products and need to pay the duty.⚠️

⚠️ SQUISHY DUMPLING PRODUCT RECALL⚠️
'Squishy' or 'Squeezy' Dumpling products have become very popular lately - however, Trading Standards Services across the country are seeing a rise in unsafe and illegal products entering the market.
Certain Squeezy Dumpling products are subject to a Product Safety Recall - see https://orlo.uk/product_safety_recall_wyoSj .

Do NOT purchase 'Squishy Dumpling' products or any other toy which does not have on its label:

-Full UK manufacturer/importer details
-A UKCA/CE safety marking

Be wary of squishy toys/products which have a strong chemical scent, or misspellings or typos on the label.

Additionally, certain social media trends are encouraging children to place these products in microwaves. These products should NEVER be heated or placed in microwaves.

Report any unsafe or suspicious products to through the Citizen's Advice helpline (0808 223 1133).
