ic county town of Huntingdonshire, is famed as the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell and has been the site of a settlement since at least the sixth century. St Ives sits at the edge of the Great Fen, on the River Great Ouse, and also shares a connection with Oliver Cromwell, who lived there between 1631 and 1636. Godmanchester, which also sits on the River Great Ouse, has been settled since Roman times. The Liberal Democrats in Huntingdon are the only real opposition to the Conservatives. Only the Liberal Democrats can defeat the Conservatives in Huntingdon. On Huntingdonshire District Council, the majority of the Liberal Democrat opposition group serve in the Huntingdon constituency, giving people in the constituency a strong local voice at district level. The Liberal Democrats also form the opposition to the Conservative administration on Cambridgeshire County Council. Lib Dem-led HDC and Lib Dem councillors are supporting community groups across Hunts with vital grant funding. 🌳

These policies and the grant funding from it helps make our area greener, keep people healthier, and bring people together. 🧡

Here's four grants across Huntingdonshire that councillors Debbie and Nathan had the pleasure of signing off:

Councillors Debbie Mickelburgh and Nathan Hunt recently approved four applications for Community Chest Grant awards!

The fantastic local projects that will make a real difference to communities across Huntingdonshire:

- Loves Farm House Community Centre will install solar reflective window films, creating a cooler, more comfortable and energy-efficient community space.
- Fenstanton Village Hall Trust will establish a weekly Active & Ageing Well Hub, helping older residents stay active, independent and connected.
- CARESCO will replace its community BBQ, to support events, volunteering activities and fundraising that benefit many local people.
- Abbotsley Village Hall will launch a series of activity tasters, from Yoga and Tai Chi to Baby Groups, Lego Clubs and crafts, helping bring the community together.

Together, these projects will support wellbeing, reduce isolation, strengthen community connection and help local people thrive.
